Me either. For some reason, owning a ps3 means you have to hate 360 and vice versa. And enjoying madden means you have to hate any other football game in existance.

This game will not threaten madden sales wise and it may go badly, but at least it's a new football title. Playing madden, with the same gameplay and same controls year in and year out becomes stale after awhile. I can't wait to try a new passing game and watch new tackle animations and see what else these guys tried.

Re: Backbreaker Fact Sheet and Screenshots

Anyone who has bought Madden over the past 5 years IMO should go out and support Backbreaker at least for now.
EA never gave anyone hope that Madden warranted another purchase but tons dropped the 60.00 on it every year, me included. Not because we love EA but we love football.

I will support backbreaker and give them the same chance I've given EA. Even with no franchise in year 1 I will give them the 60.00.

Show me each year you are making strides and I'll support it, don't do that and I won't.

A philosophy I should have used with Madden.

Now before anyone that loves EA/Madden pops up I do feel Madden 10 was a good job and while it still needs work at least IMO they improved it.

However bottom line is I love the sport and not the company.
If Backbreaker is truly customizable (And I don't even care if I can make it an NFL looking game) and they eventually make a franchise or even online only franchise I will be happy.

I just want an improved football game each year.

I couldn't agree more with what Skyboxer just said. This game is helping to push the envelope of football games. If your scared it might be bad rent it first. If you like it then buy it. If not then don't. It's that easy.

There is franchise Skyboxer. Tortsen Reil, main guy on the project over at NM, has confirmed it. They have over 32 teams and have multiple seasons with scouting, drafts, progression, etc.

The only thing I hope for is we can select the number of teams. I'll happily play a 48 teams franchise, but it would be nice to use only 32. It would be crazy with 120 teams. College Football anybody!?!?!

Im not calling you a liar, because I hope that it is done. But can I have a link for support of what you said? Like I said, not calling you a liar, but from what I have read so far, they have said the opposite.

Yeah that link is legit in one of these threads. A developer did confirm it.

I found it. LOL. Well, its not descriptive, but ill take it as what he says. Better than nothing I suppose.

But like I said before, if it doesn't I really don't care. I just want a solid football experience.

There you go. The quoted message in the OP is Torsten Reil himself.

sorry but cheesing all day is no fun for me.
Join a league and you won't have to deal with cheesers.

I've played several hundred hours of Madden 10 and All Pro Football 2K8 and the only modes I play are practice and online league games.

With the customization tools this game has, there's no doubt leagues will be popping up around it.

I honestly hope its awesome, but a first attempt at 11 on 11 football from an unknown developer, using an unproven engine, has me a bit worried. I guess you could say it worked before, but Visual Concepts had done football before NFL 2K.

This engine isn't really unproven. Many big hit developers have used this. One that everyone knows is Rockstar. Now it hasn't been used for a sports game, but when I played GTA IV the first few days it was out, I thought to myself it would be nice to have this in football. Now it wasn't that cheesy of a thought, but just the way the civilians interact with each other and how they seem to be alive and breathing. They make decisions on the fly. When I shoot in the air they all interact individually and in unique ways. You have the hero of the crowd, the one who runs away and never stops running, then you have the one too scared to move, you have the one too scared to do anything, but they find cover and peak around to watch what happens next.

Everyone does something different. The engine works great in GTA IV and I can't wait to see it in a football game. I feel it will be a huge improvement.

I hope there are multiple camera options as well. I don't think I would like a close up 3rd person view. Another thing that really bothers me is the glowing red player when they have the ball. I have a feeling that this game will be more like Blitz than a sim game.
