Ive almost picked this game up so many times...someone convince me that I should give it a shot. I played the demo an my main beef was the camera, but I love the animations and after seeing ratesports nfl rosters I'm truly intrigued. Is it worth the money and time?

Considering you can get get both Backbreaker and Backbreaker Vengeance for about $15 total these days, I'd say both are worth checking out.

Vengeance is the better game if you only get one.

The potential for a solid game is there. But also game crippling issues (I'm looking at you camera).

BackBreaker was a mess. The Real-time physics collisions were great, the editor was deep and was exactly what we needed from All-Pro Football but didn't get it, but after that it was all downhill.

As was stated before, it was never really meant to be a game, more like a proto type of the Euphoria engine.

Euphoria was a finished product, so it was far beyond prototype phase.

I honestly don't buy into the idea that it was supposed to be some sort of shopping demo, because Euphoria was already used in big budget productions before BackBreaker, and EA had expressed long before that they wanted to build their own proprietary RTP engine. BackBreaker was just a half-baked product full of bad ideas. A valiant effort, but still. It was so half-baked that it is believable to most that it was just a prototype or demo product.

And Vengeance is essentially just a big mini-game, and the fact that it's considered better than the full game is a damaging indictment on the franchise.

Their football engine had a lot of potential, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Personally, I love this game

The camera angle is annoying at times, but it keeps me immersed in the game. Road to Backbreaker is a little repetitive, but I often get so attached to my players that it's hard to replace them with better ones. Also, in every other game, when someone makes a spectacular play, it looks like a glitch. In Backbreaker, it looks like a spectacular play.

I still play this game, probably more than any other football game.

The camera was fine, the problem was pre-patch the pass game sucked and the AI offense sucked. The run game was pretty sweet.

Post patch, the pass game was improved, more plays, replays and AI - but the run game (the most fun part of BB) was totally neutered and rendered ineffective and obselte.

If the game was patched and the run game remained as it was I'd probably still be playing it.

The patch wrecked the game once and for all. People say it improved the passing game, but all my receivers did was drop everything post patch.

You have to hold onto L as you catch it. Strange and I'm not sure if that's what was intended, but at least they hold onto the ball that way.

That's what I heard back then, but I did that and the WR's still dropped everything. Eventually, I couldn't take it anymore and just gave up.

You have to hold down L2 (PS3) and pull back on the analog stick (I think the right one) to manual catch. Very annoying.
