Re: Roster Update Question for PS3 Users

So I took the default roster ... Switched out Mine Nolan with Joe Cribs. And the game froze instantly.
Gribs is a coach that is already in the game. So it appears switching any coach regardless cause some sorta of error. Gonna see what happens if I simply rename a coach. Also gonna try using a different editor to see what happens.

I had the same problem with I first created my Xbox version. Took weeks for me to find the issue and fix. Will keep you posted as testing continues

              Cage,

What editor are you using for the coaches update?

I've been able to change names of coaches, but oddly the rating changes don't seem to take. Although the performance of the team seems to indicate otherwise. I wonder if this will act like the OVR rating for players where it looks lower than it really is until progression kicks in.

I've figured out some more of the translations of the code in the COCH table to the attribute in the game but if you had a running list it would be nice to check against.

Thanks for all the hard work again. It is really extending the use out of this game .

Re: Roster Update Question for PS3 Users

Some more observations from Season 1 with the new rosters:

                - CPU teams with newly created coaches (e.g. Bucs, Jags) seem to start with zero play knowledge. Teams with old coaches (e.g. Pats, Saints) already have some decent play knowledge at the beginning of season 1. This leads to a competative advantage for teams with the same coaches as in the 2008 roster. I guess nothing can be done about that. Can't think of any way to pre-edit play knowledge.

                - About the problem of not enough injuries happening during the season: shen you actually play games players get injured on a normal basis. When you return to your office after the game ended you'll get a message "Player X is injured, out for Y weeks." The problem is that after this message the player doesn't appear on the injury report and is suddenly not injured any more. It seems that injuries do happen, they just won't save correctly for some reason. This 'injury-bug' seems only to apply to certain positions (not sure about that yet). When I look at the league's injury report there are sme RBs, WRs and DEs, so these positions don't seem to be affected by the injury-bug.

                - CPU teams sign free agents to contracts and will release them a day later. This could have something to do with the locked rosters. I saw players like Richard Seymour, Kenny Phillips or Bart Scott getting signed and immediately cut by the same team over and over again.

This is in no way meant as criticism of the rosters. We are all thankful that Cage created them. I just posted it so we can make a collaborate effort to make the rosters and the game even better.

The injury glitch was also apart of the Xbox version. I can't remember to be honest if it still exsist and if not how I got it fixed... I'll run a test on the Xbox tonight to see if the injury glitch still is there.

The reason players keep getting signed then cut is because the rosters are locked. The reason they are locked for that first season was to all the starters from this season to actually start and not be cut or traded by their current team. I can unlock them but found during the first season guys like Brady, Manning, and other top players were cut or traded ... Locking them forced the CPU to play out using this years actual starters...

Currently working on a new coaching file and system for creating them. Used it on the xbox version and it turned out amazing. Still trying to work out the freezing issue.

Ok, I think then you'd probably better keep it locked. It's better to have some FAs unsigned (most of them are FA in real life anyway) than to have any of these franchise players (Brady/Manning) traded by CPU.

I've not simmer threw an entire season yet so don't know if they remained locked into the 2nd season...
Have you simmed far enough to verify

                            One more thing I found:

On the Patriots there is a RT named M.Zusevicz. He's a complete stud with 93 OVR and all his ratings high in the 90s. While I usually don't argue over individual players' ratings I think in this case it must be an error. In real life he's a guy who's always on the bubble of making the 53 roster, so he should be rated somewhere in the low 70s in my opinion.
