Jay Glazer is backing PFT's story as well now although he said some arms went flaling inadvertently. Regardless I believe this did happen. Whole situation is pathatic and I have lost some respect for Chad and Marvin if this is true.

I'd love to know who Boomer's source is....
      MLB: Cincinnati Reds
      NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
      NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
      NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
      NHL: Calgary Flames

I still don't see why Chad wouldn't of been benched if this happened, makes no sense whatsoever, especially considering the type of coach Marvin is.

In my eyes, it's simple. The best chance Cincy had at winning was with CJ in the game. Winning trumps that stuff all the time.

I can't recall many instances where coaches benched players mid-game.

Yeah but we are talking about throwing a punch and considering Chad's lackluster performance in the 1st half...I don't know it just seems too out there and no "official" confirmations.

He is an important part of the team though. He could've turned it on 2nd half.

The punch part is where I think it might be a little off. My guess is something happened and CJ had to be seperated from his WR coach. However, I don't think he threw any punchs. Maybe just pushing and shoving.

I don't see Boomer lying about this. He's one of the biggest Cincy homers around and I doubt he would want to make the team or CJ look bad. Even www.bengals.com had a blurb about it (although not as detailed).

But Esiason does have concerns about the Chad Johnson incident and the Bengals defense, and he feels both are serious obstacles for the club.

Even though Johnson denied the report on profootballtalk.com, Esiason is convinced that Johnson had some kind of an altercation with wide receivers coach Hue Jackson and Lewis at halftime of last Sunday’s game and that it contributed to the second-half meltdown. He says Lewis has to meet this challenge as decisively as he’s met any other in Cincinnati.

“Chad doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, but it’s all about controlling his emotions. If he went after a coach, something significant has to happen,” Esiason said. “One guy can’t have that kind of autonomy if Marvin is going to get this team where they want to go.”

Yeah I think that it could of happened but not as serious as these sites are making it out to be. I think the defensive problems are much more important to fix than CJ though. (CJ is no TO and the defense needs serious help) I still believe that when Madieu and Herring come back the passing game will receive much-needed help.

Man what a tough week for the Bengals.

I agree with you Joe that all signs point to an altercation but I don't think it was as serious as people are making it out to be. If there were punches thrown I don't think for one second that Marvin Lewis plays Chad in the second half. Playoff game or not.

Man with this and the Palmer injury this week has felt like I have been repeatedly stomach punched!!!
