Panthers with Stephen Davis and Deshaun Foster. Falcons with Dunn, Duckett, (and Vick, lol). Broncos with about 8 different guys. Both Davis and Bush are also very good recievers, I see no reason for the Texans to do anything else. You could do so much with two backs that are that versatile. Get them both, keep them both.
Plus, DD has had an injury history, and a lot of people don't see him as ideally an everydown back, which some people have as a knock on Bush. So wouldn't they be a good fit?

good point. They do need to think about their fanbase in Houston, and throughout the entire state. People in Texas dont really give a crap about the Houston franchise right now, and McNair is obsessed with competing with the Dallas Cowboys for fans in the state.

but without the public sentiment factor, Mario Williams is a solid pick, and the player that will probably be able to produce the most for the Texans from day 1 (if that is really a main thing the team is worried about). Defensive line is also one of Houston's biggest needs, and blue chip DE's are one of the top 2 hardest positions to find in the draft, imo. If Williams were to produce this upcoming season, then the negative preseason sentiment would quickly turn positive.

The public sentiment is going to end up being negative for whatever they player they draft if that player doesnt produce this season (except for Vince Young, he would probably have a much longer "grace period"). The media honeymoon would wear off very quickly for Bush, if he falters. If the Texans do draft Reggie Bush, i imagine people will expect him to dominate from day 1, season 1.

add the fact that a DE warrants the type of salary that a number one pick will recieve, a "part time" running back does not, imo.

I'm actually a big supporter of Bush going to Houston. Kubiak's running scheme is pretty much as perfect a system as Bush can enter.

do you realize what kind of salary the number one pick will have? There is a reason why a running back hasnt been taken #1 overall in 11 years, and only 2 have been taken #1 overall in 21 years.

A running back doesnt usually warrant the type of salary that a #1 pick gets, especially a running back that wont be a "feature back" and will probably have to share carries.

DD just signed a $21 million extension. How can Houston have so much salary tied up in that position?

The steelers would be stupid to pick a RB in the 1st round. They already have Parker and Staley

Totally agree with ya on this one.

Lendale would totally be a steal! He's only dropping this far because of the injury, the extra 5 pounds (OMG!!) he gained and who cares he only benched 1 more rep than the punter. I've always been told.. you can teach strength but you can't teach talent. He's virtually the only powerback in the draft... the game tapes don't lie, this guy can RUN!

While I agree that White is a nice looking player who has fantastic game tape, the real reason he is falling is a percieved apathy.

Since he wasn't working out at the combine, all he had to do was get measure and take his shirt off for the scouts, which he obviously failed to get ready for.

Since he wasn't running at USC's pro day, all he had to do was have a good showing at the bench press (or at least better than Bush's). He failed to do that.

Truth be told, he didn't do a single thing this off-season to raise his stock, and by doing so he looked like he didn't care, which lowered his stock.

Yeah there's no doubt his stock has fallen but for those teams in the later round to pick up a guy with that talent, it's a steal.

Or maybe it's all a conspiracy!
