FYI, Favre doesn't hate the Packers. His beef is with Ted Thompson and if he's coming back just for that purpose, then that should really tell you about the type of man he is.

I have a few questions. For all of you's that defended Jay Cutler demanding a trade, selling his house in denver and not returning phone calls, wouldn't it be the right thing to do for Sage or TJack to demand a trade right now too. Even before they aquire Brett? The organization obviously doesn't have any loyalty to them?

Next, who gets cut if they do sign Brett? They can't keep 4 qb's on the roster can they? Booty is the next Brady. TJack is going to be molded into a great starting qb in this league by Chili himself, and they just traded for Sage.
When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”

I've stopped watching ESPN now b/c I'm sick of hearing about this crap. No player is bigger than the team....O wait, enter Brett Favre. Come out of retirement, sign w/ the Vikings, beat the Packers 1 out of 2 tries, ruin the team that was built to do some pretty good things w/ your bone head picks, miss the playoffs, or 1 and done, watch the Pack win the division w/o you, get your coach fired...again(which it seems Viking fans would actually be greatful for), retire. Wash, and repeat twice more, except change the name of the team.

At least Cutler had a pro bowl under his belt, and was coming off a great year. TJ really has nothing, maybe less than that. Sage is a career back up, so he's in his comfort zone. Booty the next Brady? What? You mean gets his ACL torn this year?

Looking at everything I know about Favre, I have no reason to believe he did that for the team or the fans. He may have done it in honor of his dad or because that's what he personally needed to do (most likely... helps lots of athletes grieve). He was still spitting that "team" talk all the way through last year when it's clear as day he hasn't made a move with the team in mind before himself in years.

                    Re: Favre to the Vikings?

I was thinking more about this. This could be a huge mistake on the Vikes part. The last time the Vikes acquired a "franchise" type guy was almost like this except it was worse in terms of the future outlook for the team. Actually it could be pretty bad in this case too because Jackson's growth as a QB may be stunted forever now because of this.

This is clearly a case (like the previous time) where it's better to go with the flow rather then go with the big splash. Yes, i'm referring to the Herschel Walker trade, before the trade the Vikes were strong playoff contenders who kept on plugging away but then they gave away the farm for Walker and the team actually REGRESSED with him on the field. Now the Vikes are gambling on old man Favre when it's probably best to go with T-Jack who actually performed VERY well down the stretch last year. Are Vikes fans this myopic that they'd go for the big name "franchise" guy rather then Jackson blossoming into a pretty good QB.

The Vikings don't NEED a pro bowl/superstar type QB. All they need is a guy who can make the right throws at the right time and keep mistakes at the minimum yet now they're going for the ultimate gunslinger who has shown last season that the only thing he can throw are INTs!

                    Good luck Vikings fans...Good Luck!

Beyond that, Bretts weakest part of his game is thowing the deep ball up and out for the receiver to make a play on it. He has always been best by putting a ball on a line. The only play I can even remember that worked as you described is the Walker catch against the Raiders when his dad died.
Notice how I never said about Culpeper being any good either.

Favre will be a Viking, you can bank on that. I would be shocked if the Vikings didn't get to 11 wins with him at QB.

T-Jack is never going to develop into a franchise QB, I think that is clear. Same for Sage...We are kind of in a win-now situation (near sighted, maybe, but how long do strong teams stay together for) and have a running game, meaning Favre wouldn't have to carry the load and do a lot of passing, he would just be there demanding respect as right now with T-Jack defenses can fill the box because there is no way he is throwing more than a 5 yard pass.

In this case what do the Vikings have to lose. The Walker trade traded away defense and draft picks, this is just a signing. I am not convinced that Jackson will ever be that great, I think Chilly sensed this too (finally) and to save his career he will do all he can to get Favre to sign on for a year. imo the Vikings are better with Favre, even though I am not a fan of his antics...Since the opportunity is presenting itself, I say the Vikings should go for it.

Most of my friends(who are Vikings fans) feel this way. To them, old Brett Favre >>>>> Sage & Tavaris.

The Jets were 8-3 with Favre(having defeated NE & Tennessee), before he started breaking down and the season went sour. His heatlh would be a concern - can he make it through another season?
