I saw some "highlights" and Bret just look .......old. I mean the way that he got off the ground was like a old man. I am big boxing fan and nothing is worst than a fighter that stayed a fight too long. Forget legacy Bret might really get hurt out there.

      i know.... I LOVE IT!

at some point, even though i dislike the man, i wanted him to leave and not tarnish his legacy. still have something to hold onto and smile about. now, because of all this he's pulled, proving so many times over and over that he thinks he's above the sport and team that made him everything he is, i hope he does everything possible to make his name a mockery. i know it's sounds hateful, but i no respect for the man anymore, regardless of anything he's achieved.

for all my dislike of the packers... well done. and packer fans, be proud of your team, your coaching staff, your town, because you all are truly blessed that this circus didn't happen to you all yet again. some of you hated the team and anything you thought they did to mismanage the situation. it should be clear now they did little wrong and they really did make the best choice. congrats.

Why would anyone hate a guy just for wanting to play football?

Pretty sure none of the people that hate or dislike him do so because of him "wanting to play football."

Because it's pretty clear he's not doing this because he loves the game, but rather the attention. He's been pulling this BS since 2004.

If he loved football so much, he would have been playing it in mini-camp. At the least, he would have announced his intention to play long before last week.

I disagree. He is playing football because he really love playing football. Most qb's retire because they can't play anymore and that is going to happen to Bret.

There are ton of qbs that played for other teams at the end of their careers and Bret isn't the only one.

How many retired, demanded to be released from their last team and then unretired (knowing it was the only loophole that would allow them to play for the team they tried to retire and then unretire to the year before)?

If he just wanted to play he'd still be a Jet.

Did the jets want him back. They knew he was shot.

Who knows... he retired, he didn't get cut. Most importantly though, why does a retired player ask to be released? The only other time I've seen that happening is to sign a one day contract with their old team so they can say they retired with their original team. We ALL know Brett wasn't going to do that with the Packers so why did he ask to be released?

Well we know for a fact that Favre's family and friends made their reservations at the Motor Lodge in Green Bay the first week of April for that Pack/Vikes game at Lambeau. Favre wasn't released from the Jets until the end of April. Sounds like the Vikes were doing a bit of tampering, and i'm convinced they were guilty of it last summer too. To me the idea that the Jets wanted nothing to do with Favre in 09 is further supported by the fact they chose not to even mess with a tampering charge against Minnesota.....they just wanted him and his circus out of town at that point.

At this point i'm inclined to believe that Favre has known all along that he wants to still be playing. He just has decided that he'd rather use this retirement thing every year as a running excuse for not putting in the offseason work. In Favre's bubble it's another plausible-sounding excuse for getting out of doing the work. And at this point we know Favre loves his excuses to avoid owning up to anything that makes him look bad. He simply cried wolf one too many times in Green Bay but he knows he can get away with it for another summer or two in Minnesota as long as Childress is coaching. I simply think he's out of touch as to the hit his reputation and image have taken. He said his wife screens alot of that stuff out of his bubble. He and his buddies at ESPN seem to still think that people just dislike him because they're tired of his "wishy washiness about retiring" when what it really is about is the selfish and dishonest way he's gone about it the over the last year..........and the sheer egotism he's displayed in both actions and words along the way. That's why people don't like Favre anymore. It's clearly not just an "simple aww shucks Mississippi boy who loves to play football with all his being". That image is gone, utterly destroyed by Favre himself.

What two knowledgeable NFL people described earlier this week as an "issue" in the Minnesota Vikings locker room was described Wednesday by a third informed person as a "schism."

The issue is quarterback Brett Favre, and the schism is the preference that certain Vikings players have for specific quarterbacks.

Sources with knowledge of the Vikings locker-room dynamics say some players believe Tarvaris Jackson gives the Vikings the best chance to win, while other players believe Sage Rosenfels gives the team the best chance to win -- which is one of the new twists to this storyline. In the words of one NFL source, Favre has "little support" in the locker room as Minnesota prepares for its Monday night preseason game against the Houston Texans.

Honestly, who didn't see that coming?

Fortunately for Favre & Childress, they've got an easy schedule to start. @ Cleveland, Detroit & St. Louis surrounding home games w/San Fran & GB. If they had the 3 games before the bye to start the year instead, there would be a real division on that team.

Just a few more recent past QB's Id rate better

joe montana-do I even need to say more? My current #1 all time pick

peyton manning- better TD's years vs years, better yards yr vs yr, less ints yrs vs yrs, 3 mvp's, 1 super bowl win, easily rated over as he tops him in almost every aspect. I rate him 2nd for my taste, argueably a top 5 all time.

Tom Brady-4 super bowls already, with 3 wins? How about 50 tds in a season and consistantcy from game to game? This guy CAN win the big one.Definateyly a top 5 all time.

Troy Aikman-say what you want, but he has 3 superbowl wins and great acuracey. He is another QB that you know what he will bring to the table

Steve Young-He is a little favre like, but a little more solid. This could be debated, but Steve always had better QB ratings to go with his numbers, and was a pretty solid QB. He was tough as they come, and could air it up like the rest of them

Dan Marino-Once again, like Brett Favre, but just better. He doesnt have the superbowl, or the MVPs of Favre, but he has much more solid stats all around and I thought more consistant.

**John Elway-this guy could easily be rated #1 by a person. He has the stats, the superbowls, the come behind wins, everything. Bottom line is the game is never over when the other team has Elway. The guy is amazing, Ill never forget what he did to Cleveland in the 80's with a not so great team. When this guy got some weapons the world saw his greatness once and for all.

Warren Moon-warren is a guy Id say is right with Favre really(minus the bowls and mvp's). Both are very very close. I will say when Moon got on fire though, it was lights out, I still dont know how they lost to the Bills in the playoffs when they were up 35-3 3rd quarter, lol. Favre should probably beat him out in all time with the super bowl and mvp's, but Moon was the man in the late 80's and early 90's. People really forget about Moon!

older QB to ponder on-terry bradshaw, fran tarkenton, unitas, sammy baugh had 10 championships straight!, etc....
