LOL I'm starting to sense a pattern here. It seems to me that most people's main gripe is that the Media would hype him up and "Awwwwww, look at Brett having fun" moments and use those reasons to call him overrated.

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
I agree completely with how overrated Favre is. He gets away with things that other QB's would get drilled over. Instead the media just goes "Oh it's just Brett having fun! What a guy!! Only Brett Favre!!!" The fact is, he would consistently make some of the dumbest throws and decisions I've ever seen any QB make. He would kill his team at times with the dumb INT's. He's the most overrated QB ever.Comment

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
I had no clue he had 3 consecutive MVP titles. that right there spells HALL OF FAME. Wether you like it or not, having awesome stats tends to say something. He has records that probably won't be broken for years to come, he was an awesome QB. I haven't been into football long, probably around 8 years now, but he's an awesome QB in my eyes even though i can't stand the guyComment

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
yeah, i would agree with you...but sorry, "other qbs" DON'T have back to back to back MVP awards in their trophy case. And "other qbs" DON'T have back to back Super Bowl appearances (active right now, only Brady can say that) and with all the other awards and records and Hall of Fame career...I would say the guy has the right to "have a little fun." it IS a GAME after all. Its supposed to be fun. Guess Bret is the only one that got that memoComment

List these numerous times where he has killed us?
Peyton has how many, yet is still one of the worst post season QB's around.
Yea, he definitely is one of the worst post season QB's around.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
Nine Pro Bowl selections. Seven division titles. Super Bowl champion in 1996. Most Valuable Player in three consecutive years. Most touchdown passes in NFL history. 283 consecutive games played. 164 wins as a quarterback—40 of them coming from behind. A lock for the Hall of Fame.
Bottom line: Favre ranks first all-time in every single major passing category, including yards, touchdown passes, and wins. He earned three consecutive MVP awards and led the Packers to a Super Bowl victory in 1996. He played through more injuries than almost any player in history.
And yet he is still overrated.
He flat-out choked in the playoffs in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007. His '96 Packers were 1,000 times better than the New England Patriots, and it would have been considered an enormous disappointment had they lost the Super Bowl. The Pack was heavily favored against the Broncos in 1997 and did lose, costing Favre a second ring.
He forces way too many passes and has set interception records that may never be broken. The last 11 years of his career have not matched his first six seasons, and some of his full seasons have been flat-out disappointing for a quarterback in the NFL.
Favre is a fantastic quarterback, and probably the greatest in team history. But he is nowhere near number one and struggles to crack my list of the top 10 quarterbacks of all-time.
.99 for you thoughts.
Yea sure...he had some nuances about his game. The gun-slinging it, the risks he would take, but that IS Brett Favre.
That's what you get with him, and I'd take it everyday over:
Kerry Collins, Byron Leftwhich, Matt Schaub...wait let me make it easier and list the QBs I WOULD take over Favre.
Peyton, Brees, Brady, McNabb, Romo, Eli, Rivers, Big Ben, Palmer, and for the sake of the youngsters Ryan and Flacco.
That leaves 19 other teams out there I'd rather have Favre as a QB for, and knowing full well everything he brings with him.
Bottom line is he can win you games at a 62% career mark at that, and he can seemingly lose a game for you too but OVERALL he gives your team a better chance of winning.
He has 93 career losses, surely he's lost some big games, made some mistakes, but w/o his level of play the team would've likely not EVEN BEEN IN THE POSITION TO LOSE THAT GAME!!!!!!!!
This is just ********! I mean for cryin out loud if at 40 some yrs old team's still have interest in him then WTF does that say about how a HEAD COACH/GM/Owner feels about the guy.
Screw what some arm-chair jockey on a message board thinks, you've got REAL NFL minds considering the guy.

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
He has one ring in a long career and has killed his team in the playoffs numerous times. Roethlisberger already has more rings than him. Guys like TO and Chad Johnson "have fun" on the field, and the media murders them over it. But not Brett. I don't really care how many MVP awards somebody wins. Peyton has how many, yet is still one of the worst post season QB's around.
And, again Favre took his team to the playoffs pretty much by himself. No run game really, mediocre defense, okay special teams. He didn't have as much talent around him as Peyton or Brady did.Comment

Ahead of Fouts, Bradshaw, Aikman, Moon.
Behind Elway, Montana, Unitas, Marino, Young, Manning, Brady.
No particular on any of the above.Comment

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
Wow I thought this topic would never come up. But IMO I think he is overrated, won't repeat what has already been established. Sure Farve wins games, but he has lost plenty more than he should have with his style. But that's his game, a quaterback that should be mentioned with the greats but not proclaimed one of the greatest JMO#WashedGamerComment

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
I don't see how people can hold the "big" losses completely against him, I mean understand it, but you've got to consider everything. Again, w/o his level of play the Packers are likely not even in a position to lose a "big" game.
If you choose to dawn on his INTs or his failures then you're just making a case against him regardless of how strong the case is against you.
What could Favre had possibly done in Superbowl 32?
The Packers had NO answer for Terrell Davis. So Favre made one INT, he finished w/ 3 passing TDs.
It's like some expect perfection, knowing Favre isn't perfect (holds records for INTs), but don't care because ... ? They just want to call him overrated?
If you're tired of the fiasco surrounding his "return" that's one thing, but is he overrated? Not IMO.
I agree with that.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

7-8 Playoff Record, 348-564, 4208 Yds, 22 Td and 17 INTs.
Yea, he definitely is one of the worst post season QB's around.
As for Brett, he has 28 INT's in 22 post season games. That's terrible.
I'm a Pittsburgh fan too but Roethlisberger probably would only have 1 or none if he didn't have the best defense both years. His O-line was terrible but his defense bailed him out more times than not.
And, again Favre took his team to the playoffs pretty much by himself. No run game really, mediocre defense, okay special teams. He didn't have as much talent around him as Peyton or Brady did.
Ben's offensive line played AWFUL in the SB last season. The running game was nonexistent too. They did everything imagineable to lose the game, from getting safeties in the 4th quarter, he even had to start his gamewinning drive backed up against his endzone on 1st and 20, due to holding. The fact that he played so well in the playoffs last year, and then put on the legendary performance he did in the Superbowl, you have to give it up. That's elite QB stuff. When it comes to the playoffs, he's one of the best in the game.Comment

Re: Brett Favre=Mr. Overrated
5-8 record, 3,373 yards on 299-505 passing(59%) with 13 TD's and 16 INT's.
I know, can't single games out like that, but really, I would consider those games to be really taken out because those games he posted perfect QB ratings against a horrible Denver defense. In games against tougher defenses, he wasn't as good.
Although, I still think saying worst post season QB is false. He just couldn't perform as well in the playoffs against quality opponents.7 National Championships

Favre is a top 10 QB in my book. Yup, he threw a lot of picks..more than anyone in the history of the game but, those are just numbers. He was a great QB for a long long time in the leagueComment
