    NFL2kX: 'Switch To Blocker' Option

I heard this mentioned with reference to Sega's new 1st-Person Mode method of playing for NFL2k4. It was stated that one could switch control from player to player during any play on offense. That is DURING the play. This is an idea I had a LONG time ago for Sega, and it could be used without changing the dynamics of the whole game. It is called a 'Switch To Blocker' option. This is a feature one could toggle 'On' and 'Off' when setting up your Franchise in Franchise Mode. Here is how it works:

At any point in game-play, before the snap or after the snap, a gamer can select and control ANY player on offense they wish. Let's say that you called a Sweep Right. Before the snap of the ball, you notice that a Linebacker has crept up to the right of your Tackle, giving him a clear path to the Runningback if you stick with the play. With 'Switch To Blocker' on, you can now switch control to, say, a Tight End, and get him in position right in front of the Linebacker. When you snap the ball, your AI will control the ball carrier and run the pattern as scripted. You maintain control of the Tight End and can now run WITH your teammate, clearing a path for him as you are blocking the opposition. There are two buttons implemented during game-play. One, will allow you to switch to the next teammate CLOSEST to the ball carrier. The other, will allow you to switch control to the ball carrier himself. This would open a whole new strategy and skill to the game! Not to mention a new level of fun, allowing the gamer to experience BLOCKING in an NFL game.

What do you guys think? Would you like this as an option in future NFL2ks?

Very cool. This would be a great option. Funny thing, me and my friend were talking about a similar thing just the other day.
Willie Mays Hayes: “Say hey! Willie Mays Hays here! Play like Mays, but I run like Hays!”

I like having to rely on my teammates. I prefer expecting them to do the right thing, and also having to overcome mistakes if/when they occur.

good idea, but i personally wouldn't touch it. I have to control the ball carrier at ALL times, I dont trust the cpu toting the rock.
