Because he has. Back when he was winning rushing titles and an MVP, his play did the talking. Now, he's lost a step, people are doubting him, and he didn't even hit the 1k mark last year(well short of it too). I think he feels like he's still at his peak and can still be the player he was 2-3 years ago, so he has to talk more off the field instead of letting his play on the field do the talking.

You act like this is Terrell Owens we're talking about? Has LT ever disrespected anyone? All he's saying is he was 'misused', which IMO he kind of was. Well, I'm not sure misused is the right word, but it wasn't the right situation for him.

When Norv came in as coach, the team became a pass first team and more finesse. They aren't the power/smashmouth running team they were in the Marty years and that's the style LT likes. I don't see where you come up with LT running his mouth every 5 seconds.

And yeah, that's nice.... "I hope they die in a plane crash, but not literally".

Once again, I'd just rather see him back things up. He should get plenty of opportunities with the Jets and a very good run blocking line.
Comparing a QB playing with a knee injury and a RB playing with a knee injury makes no sense.

How many RB's have you seen play with a severely sprained MCL? In cold weather no less. He gave it a shot, obviously wasn't right (it was plain as day on his first touch) and exited the game.

When he was healthy, like the Pats game in SD two years prior he shredded the Pats. He was hurt. End of story.

            Wow.

Nothing he has said seems all that inflammatory or off base. He gave his opinion, he has more than earned his right to express his opinion.

Valid point, not a good example from me.

Either way, my original point stands.

Sproles was the better back? Did you see what Sproles did last season? Nothing special.

At least LT was able to score touchdowns in the red zone.

LT was the better pure runningback for the Chargers, last year. Sproles was better for screens.

You can disagree with him, but he didn't say anything that should get Charger fans riled up imo.

Wow, there is just so many comments Id like to respond to in this thread, but it would take so much time and room. Im not going to quote all the people, but heres some of my feelings that addresses some of what Ive read.

#1 Ladian hasnt gone downhill as much as some think, he just wasnt as good to begin with as some believed.
#2 Marty Shottenheimer was a genious. Hes always been a genious at drafting players, running the football, and defense. Hes done it everywhere he has been, and turned loosers into winners, and nearly reached the superbowl many many times only to have the owner get rid of him for a coach that slowly takes the teams backwards. The charges have stars because of Marty, period. Playing for Marty's son, might be a smart way to get back to what works for you. I saw Kevin Mack, a FULLBACK, rush for 1k yards under marty. The guy knows how to punish people. Let me name some of martys drafted running backs, earnest byner, kevin mack(way underrated), marcus allen, christian okoye, Ladanian Tomlinson. I have a video of Marty stating he wanted barry sanders and was going to draft him if he was available. He also said that Barry would be the best back ever. Best part is, this was before barry played a game in the NFL. Now that is knowing his running players. Marty spotted talent well. Look what he did for Cleveland in the late 80's, the chiefs in the early 90's, the charges in the 200's. The guy is just awesome. Id love to have Marty Ball back to Cleveland. Best years ever.
#3 LT was smart to go to the Jets. Not only do they have a chance at the playoffs, or even greater, but they can run the ball well. If Thomas Jones can have such a great year, LT should be able to pull off a good one. The downside might be he might not get the carries he wishes to get, and may complain? We will see.
#4 The Vikings wouldnt have been a great fit. While Im not a huge Adrian Peterson fan because of his fumbles(there beyond rediculous for me), I still think that chester Taylor is just as good as LT, and simular to LT's running and catching (younget LT days)style. LT might have been a 3rd string here. I feel he has a bit more to offer, and COULD possibly be a starter on the right team who needs a back(not sure the jets will ever "start" him though). In all fairness, Im a huge chester Taylor fan, I find him underrated personally.

                      1. LT was the best in the league at one point, not just running the ball, but also catching it out of the backfield too.

                      2. I won't argue Marty's success as a coach. But he is no genius for predicting greatness for Barry Sanders after he came off 2600 rushing yards and 39 TD (not including the bowl game) in college.

                      4. Chester Taylor is no longer with the Vikings and LT probably could have been an effective replacement as a 3rd down back.

#1. I think LT's good, just never personally thought of him as a all time top 10 great as many claimed.
#4 I didnt know Taylor was traded. Vikings wouldnt have been a bad place at all then. Where did Taylor go? I think the Vikings took a real hit there. I really liked him.

                              1. I have no idea how exactly you could possibly come to that conclusion if you'd really watched him. Particularly from 2002-2006 he was about as good as any RB I have ever seen.

                              2. Marty's a genius and can spot talent as you say, you should also know then, in dispute of your first point, on multiple occasions in big big press conferences, Marty has said LT was the finest running back he's ever seen. And he said he's seen a lot of great ones, but none were as good as LT.
