Re: Could LeBron James compete in the NFL?
Which is what?
That Lebron is some sort of demigod who can lace up cleats for the first time in his life against serious competition and automatically be better than people who have been playing football for 15+ years?Comment

I wasnt talking about you. I'm talking about the people who state the obvious when this is a hypothetical thread. Ofcourse we wont know what LeBron can or cant do on the gridiron we are guessing here. You looking at the Chair MAN!
Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.Comment

Re: Could LeBron James compete in the NFL?
Would LeBron dominate(Very doubtful) but, I think he could more than likely compete with average wide outs or receivers. I'm not saying it would be impossible for LeBron to dominate but, It's very unlikely IMO. I think his basketball speed is great but, football speed I really don't think he would be that fast. There is no telling what he would be able to do in a football game besides run and jump.
We don't know If he can catch consistently, If he's injury prone, run routes, have good footwork(And not basketball football), etc etc etc.
IMHO he'd be a pretty big project.Last edited by SouthernBrick; 05-15-2010, 11:32 PM.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment

Re: Could LeBron James compete in the NFL?
I think he could be decent, he is so explosive, quick, and just dominant in the paint in the NBA against bigger guys and i think that could make him a good WR. Also he has a great vertical so that would be hugeComment

Re: Could LeBron James compete in the NFL?
Simple.
Nope. Not now.
Apples and Oranges. Amazing athlete yes, and if he had made the choice to focus on football rather than hoops -probably yes......develop technique AND (this is big) be able to take the beatings of the NFL - then yes, he might have been able to.
We dont know if he has football speed, agility, toughness or strength. Very different worlds.
I also think it's obvious that he has strengths that translate to the NFL. He is one of the best finishers in the NBA. He constantly has to finish in between multiple guys 6'10 and above. He has terrific hand size. He has tremendous leaping ability. You know he has some burst and ability. You know he can get by quicker smaller players (with a basketball in his hands at that)."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Could LeBron James compete in the NFL?
Obviously he would have to learn some football skills and techniques and be committed to it. I think you're point about the beatings of the NFL is valid, but come on, the guy would likely be a wideout...not the most physically demanding position in the game. If a guys like Ted Ginn, Sidney Rice, Chad Ochocinco, Randy Moss, etc. can play in the NFL, than I think Lebron would be fine. Being tough is great to have as a WR, but it's really not a prerequisite.

Re: Could LeBron James compete in the NFL?
yah originaly he had offers to go to ohio state, notre dame, and like 3 more schools. He was pritty good in highschool. He has some school recieveing records too.
He would probaly be a great player if he had continued to develope his skills. Who knows if he would have been moved from reciever to another position in college.Comment

I've seen Darren Sproles compete in the NFL. I've seen Wes Welker compete in the NFL. I've seen Ryan Leaf play in the NFL. I've seen Jamarcus Russell play in the NFL.
Of course LeBron James could compete in the NFL.Comment
