Their Oline is poor and aging, their front 7 on defense lacks depth and still have far too many guys that don't really fit their position.

In the secondary, you think those safeties start for very many teams in the NFL? Newman and Jenkins are nice, and Scandrick does give them depth.

And last but not least they took a guy that really was never anything more than a kickoff specialist at USC and turned him in to their full time field goal kicker.

If it was a fantasy team and skill players were all that mattered then yes this would be amongst the most talented teams in the league.
The problem is depth. Their is no quality depth at the OL, not even close. The defensive secondary, forget it. Sensabaugh isn't awful but Ball wouldnt be close to seeing the field on most teams.

The season is still redeemable in my opinion but that's if they do a complete 180 which obviously is going to be a lot of work. I still don't get how this defense doesn't create turnovers. Its CUTLER!!!!!!!!

I am no Colin Cowherd fan, actually I think he's an idiot, but he said offensively, Dallas doesn't have any great players. They've got some good players, but no great players.

Also in talking about Tony Romo, he said he's one of those guys who can make the very difficult play look easy, and the really easy play look difficult.

While Phillips is not what I would deem a very good coach, and Garrett is obviously limited as a play caller, the bottom line is this team is not as talented as there were touted and there are a lot of holes in that roster.

Phillips is a great defensive play caller and I think he does get the most out of his defense, particularly with a somewhat thin and limited secondary. Now who's to blame for no depth and not talent at the safety position?

And no Bill Cowher is not coming to Dallas to coach. You think Cowher he wants autonomy is going to work for Jerry Jones? Only if Jones gives up the player personnel responsibilities and that doesn't seem likely.

I have no idea what team you're watching. I'll strongly disagree with you and leave it at that.

Who on that offense is a truly great player? I guess you could maybe make a case for Witten, but he's not a game changer.

Then how many offenses really have great players? I'm not saying Dallas does, it depends what everyone's opinion is of 'great.'

I'm not anointing Austin great, but if by your definition he is not great, not many offense have great players then.

All of the elite SB contending teams do. Which Dallas is supposed to be.

Re: Week 2: Bears @ Cowboys

When I think of a "great player" in terms of Offense, I usually think of someone who puts fear in the opposing Defense every time they come on the field. Like that one person that you NEED to keep an eye at ALL times and when I look at the Cowboys' Offense, I really don't see one either. But for their sake that MIGHT be a good thing because like it was mentioned, they have a group of very GOOD players on Offense and sometimes that enough right there to get it done.

I don't disagree, but other than the obvious, who do you consider great? Or is that just limited to Manning, Brady, Brees...etc. I know I only mentioned QBs...but I think the list of who we all consider greats would be pretty consistent.

                        Chris Johnson? Andre Johnson?

Is Ray Rice great? If not, Baltimore doesn't have any.

                        Rivers and/or Gates?

Basically, maybe the Cowboys don't have great players by your definition, but I know a lot of teams wouldn't mind having the offensive players we have.

I just can't fathom how we can move the ball up and down, not all game but enough to win, but can't punch it in. To me, that's more coaching, scheme, etc. Part of me wouldn't mind if Romo disregards the playcall and calls his own play, or does he? Never know.

I still stand behind the it's fixable group, it's fixable. The division doesn't seem as strong this year. If we lose next week though, I'll just go in hiding 'till next year.

And I don't completely disagree with you about drafting Bryant, (you mentioned it earlier) but I can't lie. I like him, a lot. Watching him play these last 2 games, he looks like he's going to pan out, big time.

lol, Austin truly is a great player. I've been saying that since last season. Vince is very good and since he led Texas to a title he will always be highly regarded imo. Thats a good question though.

LOL. This thread has turned in to a hilarious roundtable of Cowboys defenders.

You all should be debating this crap in the Dallas Team Thread.

The simple fact in this game (that the thread is supposed to be about) is that the Bears played a better game overall and won. End of story.

Actually, Dallas fans should be happy. Last week, bkrich said the Bears weren't that good of a team and didn't have any talent. Looks like the 'Boys are gonna get the "bkrich bump" next week.
