Re: Week 2: Bears @ Cowboys

I don't think anybody is saying that the Bears didn't win and were not the better team because they clearly were(on the field of course).

We're just trying to figure out that if this team is so "talented" then why are they 0-2?

I thought it was established early (and correctly) that it starts and ends with the front office and coaching. Now we're debating the merits of Miles Austin and comparing his star power with Vince Young.

I think their is no doubt this team is talented, very talented. There are kinks in there though. At safety, the OL is aging.

In the end, the game is won on the field, and right now their not winning it.

We can blame the coaches all we want, in the end, make plays. Romo throw the ball consistently, receivers make the plays you should make, etc.

Defense, they looked good and terrible. The drive that led to the Olsen TD, AWFUL.

At least part of the problem with lack of commitment / lack of execution in the running game, IMO. Through two games we're averaging 21 carries for 63 yards, both per-game. That's unacceptable, IMO.

BTW, Roy Williams has been pretty solid so far. He's nowhere near what we all expected, stupidly, but he has been a pleasant surprise.

No Miles Austin is not a "great player".

Agreed with Krioniq on the run game. I think some of that falls on their lack of confidence in the offensive line.

Through 2 games Felix Jones has a total of 19 touches. Are you kidding me? Find a way to get that guy the ball.

Dallas obviously has talent, but they are no where near as talented as advertised coming in to the game.

no way the bears won. just like last week against the 'skins, the cowboys are beating themselves every week. only way to explain them losing really, how else could a team this good lose? they have gotten caught up in reading all the experts predictions and thought they could flip a switch once the regular season started, it doesn't work that way in the nfl. they still have time to right the ship, but that clock is ticking, they need to beat houston this week, going into the bye winless would really be a bad situation for their team (changes may be made, etc.)...

Gonna be a good one this week. Houston is no pushover.

Bears won that game man and this is really not the same as last week. It wasn't like the Skins Offense was having the same type of success Chicago was having against Dallas' D.

So, playing turnover-free football while executing the offense, making needed adjustments, and making plays on defense isn't classified as winning anymore? GTFO.

                        Chris Johnson? Andre Johnson?

Is Ray Rice great? If not, Baltimore doesn't have any.

                        Rivers and/or Gates?

Basically, maybe the Cowboys don't have great players by your definition, but I know a lot of teams wouldn't mind having the offensive players we have.

I just can't fathom how we can move the ball up and down, not all game but enough to win, but can't punch it in. To me, that's more coaching, scheme, etc. Part of me wouldn't mind if Romo disregards the playcall and calls his own play, or does he? Never know.

I still stand behind the it's fixable group, it's fixable. The division doesn't seem as strong this year. If we lose next week though, I'll just go in hiding 'till next year.

And I don't completely disagree with you about drafting Bryant, (you mentioned it earlier) but I can't lie. I like him, a lot. Watching him play these last 2 games, he looks like he's going to pan out, big time.
Very few do, but there are very few true elite SB contender type teams out there.

As far as Bryant, I like him as well, I think he's going to a very good player. But if you look at it,they have used their last two first round picks on WR's (Bryant, and Williams Trade). I am not sure with the makeup of this team, that that was prudent.

This team was not a 3rd WR away from being a SB team. Having or not having Bryant won't be the difference. Having or not having the ability to run block and protect the passer very well might be the difference.

disagree. the only way any team in the league beats dallas is if the cowboys allow them to by making stupid mistakes, bad play calls, turnovers, penalties at inopportune times, etc. come on man, you didn't sense my sarcasm? i just get sick of the excuses made for the cowboys everytime they lay an egg. they are an average team, got some very good players but as a team they are average. you know the bears won that game, i was just being sarcastic...

If it was late in the year and Dallas was say 9-3 and the Bears were 5-7, this would be a game where I would say Dallas lost it themselves.

But as of now they are 0-2, because of poor inconsistent play, mistake riddled as well. They are not a good football team 2 weeks in.

totally agree. and the 'boys schedule ain't gonna start doing them any favors anytime soon either...

Yeah good point. How many "Great Players" do the Saints have on their offense. Drew Brees?
