Sexual harrassment is a tricky thing. It's almost purely in the eyes of the "harrassed". A big thing here is that the doesn't want to press charges.

This is not a case of "he said/she said". There are voicemails that are absolutely Brett Favre. You should listen to them. There are texts. In short there is a trail that is very traceable back to Brett Favre. He used his clout as the NFL's most marketable player and as the Jets star QB to leverage a Jets employee into giving him her contact info. The voicemails speak for themselves. That is absolutely Brett Favre on those voicemails.

The fact that she didn't want to press charges or create a circus because of it has no bearing on whether or not Favre is guilty of these allegations. She told the Jets intermediary that she wasn't interested, that she felt like getting involved with a high profile married athlete like him would see her "end up being found in a garbage can". This response obviously got back to Favre, since he specifically referenced it in one of his voicemail messages....as he continued pressing her to meet with him. This is pretty cut and dry.

Haven't other players (didn't some kicker?) send naked pics to women before without penalty? Seems like a wildly over blown situation esp since this broad didn't even press charges. I can't imagine Favrah will get suspended over this.

When you're a millionaire working for a multi-million dollar corporation, like the NFL, you're expected to not get arrested. See most corporations in the United States. You'll more than likely end up fired for getting a DUI. It IS work related, as your image reflects your corporation. If Ben gets suspended for his image, and how it reflects on the NFL, then so should others. It's BS. Favre should get suspended. Although since it's his last season, we know that will NEVER happen. He could pull an OJ and they still won't suspend him, they'd just move all home games to the prison yard for him.

In a general conversation which you're trying to present, I agree with you. In regard to the "People with DUI's aren't suspended but he might be for this" (in the same voice as the "compare some world tragedy to an unrelated sports infraction) this is completely unrelated. Bringing up Michael Vick or Pacman Jones are also unrelated. Even Ben is unrelated, but is at least close since it's also a harassment case but very different.

Different b/c both were employees of the Jets at the time, and supposedly a Jets PR guy helped set the whole thing up. Could be seen as Favre trying to use a position of power to get something, a definite no-no in any workplace.

The NFL has conducted its interview with Vikings quarterback Brett Favre as it continues to investigate allegations that he sexually harassed Jenn Sterger when both were with the New York Jets.

Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports that Favre's agent, Bus Cook, attended the meeting with Favre. NFL Security V.P. Milt Ahlerich represented the league in the meeting, sources told ESPN's Ed Werder.

Favre has declined to talk publicly about the allegations, which were first reported by Deadspin. There's no word yet on what Favre told NFL Security behind closed doors.

For that matter, there's no word on whether anyone has told the NFL much of anything in this investigation. Deadspin editor A.J. Daulerio told Will Brinson of CBSSports.com that he has not been contacted by the NFL. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that Sterger hasn't cooperated with the NFL's investigation, and that the league's investigation could, as a result, hit a dead end this week.

So the NFL may not have much to go on in its investigation, other than whatever Favre said in today's meeting. And if Cook was doing his job as Favre's representative, Favre didn't say anything that could get himself in trouble.

That is too good.

I'm not expecting Favre to get suspended considering he's the golden boy of the league. At the same time though, the league has to do something so that it doesn't come off as a double standard for certain players. I can't see them just fining him and moving on.

At this point that's exactly what it seems like to me though. Double standard to protect one of the faces of the league. You'd have to be a fool not to think that's Brett's voice on the tapes. And if the reporting Deadspin did was correct, then someone should be punished, be it Brett or the Jets.

Goodell's "personal conduct policy" has no mention of having to have the law involved.

This douche has definately created a double standard with his policy. Here's just some names for you to ponder,

What do they all have in common? Well, they were all guilty according to this,

Whether it involves your team or another, these incidents affect us all -- every investigation, arrest, or other allegation of improper conduct undermines the respect for our league by our fans, lessens the confidence of our business partners and threatens the continued success of our brand.
"As your club begins its offseason programs and approaches the Draft, I encourage you to be vigilant in reinforcing this message with your players and staff. It makes no difference whether an incident occurs during the season or in the off-season. At every opportunity, you should remind them of your standards and the public’s expectations, of the need to use good judgment, particularly when in a public place, and of the resources available to help us all in meeting these standards."

Yup, no double standards to be found here.

^^^ Its still a private matter at this point. If police were involved there would swift action being taken right now, even before due process had run its course. I see nothing wrong with how the NFL is handling this.
