That having been said, what kind of BS excuse is 'he's playing with all his weapons.' Are you kidding me right now? People have been worshipping at Peyton Mannings feet for the better part of a decade now because of his play and he's always playing with his full compliment of weapons or near the full cupboard until this year. When Brady was throwing record number touchdowns he was doing it with his full compliment of WRs including good Moss and something as ridiculous as this...it doesn't count cause he's playing with his full arsenal crap has not once ever come up.

If Brady or Manning were playing like Vick is right now with a healthy offense and this question was posed between one (or both of them) vs Rivers, we'd be hearing about how close the discussion is or there would be people flat out talking about how much better Manning or Brady are. However it's Vick vs Rivers and we're seeing stuff about Rivers any day of the week and take this away and that away from Vick? Why can't people ever just stick to the friggin question asked. This isn't a question of who's the MVP, who's better historically in they're career, who you'd draft with the first pick or who's going to finish with the better career numbers or whatever. The question is who's playing at a higher level RIGHT NOW in a vaccum of this season. Not last season, the season before that or next year's season, but THIS season. Rivers may just be playing at a higher level but make no mistake it's not by much if at all.
I don't think anyone's throwing the dogs out as reason why Rivers is better. I know that I have no biase whatsoever against Michael Vick. I actually know him. But the 'he's playing with all his weapons' lends context to the argument when you both guys are playing at a high level, because playing quarterback isn't just about the numbers, it's about elevating those around you, something that both guys have done.

And I disagree with you assessment of Brady and Manning. For years, there where those that argued that Brady was better than Manning because he won three Super Bowls with no marquee weapons.

I've heard comentators on both sides of the argument talk about how Brady and Manning are having their best seasons EVER, this year, because of the way they are doing it, despite the injuries. I didn't get that anyone here is saying what Michael Vick is doing is any less than Rivers because he's got a full arsenal. The point being made is that what Rivers is doing is even more remarkable because he doesn't have nearly as much around him. And what is around a quarterback and what he has to work with, does count for something in my opinion.

Thats kind of hard to believe with his name in your tag name.

But I think right now these two are the front runners.

SD vs IND is going to be huge. I think the loser could miss the playoffs. Especially the Chargers.

For the Chargers I'd take Rivers I don't think anyone pushes the ball down the field as well as Rivers, which is the staple of this offense.

Both have been lights out. Only knock on Vick for me has been durability.

Rivers is the better down field thrower and Vick is the more dynamic player. Take your pick.

I think he's a great qb mentor a great coordinator and maybe the best game day playcaller in the league. As a head coach he leaves a lot to be desired.

Somebody noted earlier that vick only played in 5 full games this season. Well in those 5 games he has 1608 pass yards on 191 att 11 td's 0 ints. 375 rushing yards on 55 att 5 more td's. That's 1983 yards 16 td's and 0 ints in 5 games (ill give u 6 since he played a couple qtrs against Gb and a piece of qtr against the skins 1st time around)

Now since u like projecting rivers stats and bragging about what he is on pace to do, why don't u project those stats and tell us what vick stats would be say he played all 10 games like rivers or what he would be on pace to do if he played 16 games like rivers probably will.

Now that's to take nothing away from rivers cause he is playing swell. It's just to shed some light on vick cause it seems yall don't really realize his value especially when yall think its no contest between him and rivers....that's crazy

I'm go say rivers is mvp out the two as of right now because vick has missed time but if I had to choose between the two, vick is my qb. He can do everything rivers is doing considering if he threw the ball 50+ times a game twice and 40+ a couple more games plus he can get u yards on the ground.

Vick is not the passer Rivers is. Particularly throwing the intermediate and deep balls with accuracy. I don't even think that's debatable.

If I'm not mistaken he's only short of pace on Marino's yard record by only 1 yard even with a less than stellar game yesterday yards wise.

They got out to that huge lead and ran the football.

I'd have to go with Vick because of how many ways he can beat you. Add in the fact he hasn't thrown a freaking interception all year and he gets the edge. Turnovers rule football.

I will be amazed if he keeps protecting the ball like he is.

Rivers has had turnovers but, Vick more than likely won't keep it up. I think he has a great chance to keep the turnovers limited. Every QB has his day where he just sucks or a defender just makes a a play on the ball or a tipped pass turns into a INT.

While the no INT stat is amazing, I heard a guy on the radio the other day from PFT and they had broken down Vick's season so far. The no INT thing is more luck than anything as they counted 6 balls so far that should have been picked that were dropped or the defender just whiffed. It's sort of like someone bragging about a pitching not having given up any home runs and yet they have a high fly ball percentage. Eventually it catches up with you.
