    I can respect that.

I think people talk down on Landry because he still does the same tendancies he's done since ST died, although last year it wasn't as often. I just wouldn't put him in the top 10 because I need to see him be more consistent with it from year to year, which is why I said earlier after the top 5 everything else is/was debatable. Because those top 4 dudes(Reed, Troy, Collins, Wilson)have proven they can be consistent year to year. Everyone else hasn't which is part of the reason why I agree with BK on that. Outside the Big 4, the rest of the Safties are either young or have multiple holes in their games.

Now if Landry starts to shows signs of his 2010 Performance before he got hurt, then I'll start to sing a different tune about him but right now I can't. Especially considering I've seen too many dudes from that team have a great season one year, get hyped up to the moon and then the next season, just be average or not that good compared to his previous year. Luckily for him, his job should be a bit easier with the addition of Otogwe there.

Yea thats true but I still feel all of those safetys are solid but they all have some flaws like you said and I can't argue with that. Great post..

        • Polamalu: 14 games, 63 TTs 1 FF, 7 INTs, 1 TD
        • Mikell: 15 games, 88 TTs, 1 FF, 3 INTs, 1 TD
        • Mikell was the leader on his team in TTs from the safety position mind you.
        • Polamalu was 6th on his team in TTs.
With Mikell completely omitted from the list only proves BKRich right....

That this list is not based on talent. It's based on fandom, w/ probably a sparingly used statiscal analysis.

Quintin Mikell falls victim to not having as good a team-D as Polamalu. If he wasn't used as a glorified 4th LB in a 4-3 defense maybe he could impress upon more highlight reel plays, which lead to more votes from this panel of douchers.
That's my point. Unless you can really see these guys and really understand their roles within each defense it's so tough to judge them. Especially when going strictly off a TV feed. In would guess the majority of the sports writers on this poll don't even knowing who Mickell is.

If I put my Top 10 together based on strictly what I have seen and how I understand thet are deployed by their respective teams Mickell would certainly be in the discussion.

There's a ton of young talent at safety but the young guys seem to be in the development stages of their careers. There's a reason why guys like Lawyer Milloy have stuck around as long as they have.

Merrieweather is an example. He's got some talent but he was awful in every Pats game i saw. That is when he wasn't sitting on the bench.

Antoine Bethea was totally hosed for this list, but he will once again prove this list to be wrong this year.

I don't know....Berry made some rookie mistakes...but he was a rookie....take that into account with all of the plays (vs run and pass) that he did make...and...I'd say there's a valid argument for him at 5

I disagree. Loved him coming out of UT. Thought he was the best, most NFL ready player in the entire draft, at this point in his career I don't see him as Top 5. To me it's not even in question.

That being said, for me it's not about if he becomes a Top 5 player at his position, but when. Because imo, it's only a matter of time, and I would guess sooner rather than later.

You can take a highlight film of anyone and make them look better than they are.

I honestly don't get all the Bethea love. Although I didn't watch a ton of Colts games last year.

Yeah im sure I speak for many kc fans when I say im amped about Berry's future. It's scary to think how well he'll play when the game slows down for him and he gains more experience
