It's not he money it's the fact that he was in a position that everyone always dreams of being as a kid and he was an idiot and ruined it all

I didn't contradict myself with the Stallworth thing, 2 totally different situations. Don't drink and drive, but to go to jail to not put the victims family through that situation of court is a great thing for a person to do

Maybe it's the culture I come from, but when this whole thing started I was like who cares it's just dogs. As this thing played out I really changed my stance and realize how heinous dog fighting is. I can only imagine if I grew up in a culture that was pro dog fighting.

We all know Mike was like a lot of gifted athletes and developed a sense of entitlement. That he has done other things that showed his questionable decision making and character, but dude IMO seems to have really matured and learned from this. Like I said seeing the pethora of other guys that mess up in sports the main thing guys who don't seem to get it really seem like even talking about the mistake make them uncomfortable. Vick seems to really be comfortable discussing his crime and mindset.

Umm, what? So you're all for Stallworth, who killed a man (accident or not), but against Vick (who killed dogs, definitely purposely, though).

Stallworth only went to jail for 30 days and cut a deal with the family of the man he killed, too.

I just don't see how you can give Stallworth the benefit of the doubt, but not Vick. I think you just don't like Vick for some reason or another, which is fine. Just don't try to sugarcoat it.

As for the topic at hand, as I have been on the whole Vick thing, I'm kind of neutral. It's disgusting and sad what he did to the dogs, and as much as I want to detest the man for that, there are worse things he could've done (not that that's any consolation). Regardless, he got a decent amount of jail time for it, now he's back after serving his time, it's just childish to continually hold it against him and never give him a chance to prove himself again.

I, too, have found Vick's remorse to be sincere. The most sincerest I've seen an athlete repent for his negative actions ever (whether that be for steroids use, drug use, DUI, or any other criminal or non-criminal offense). I'm sure a bit of it is PR and rehabbing his image, but a lot of it is because he has matured. It takes hitting rock bottom to do that for a lot of people.

Once again, Vick is just a football player to me. No longer is he "that QB who killed dogs."

Absolutely. People don't have to like him nor do they have to justify why they don't.

As I said I can't stand the man, and I find his contrition to be forced and fake. That being said I don't care about this deal. It's a business deal for Nike and has no bearing on whether I buy nike products or not.

I dont care about the Vick and why anyone hates him anymore (thanks BK) But LMAO at respecting Stallworth for his situation in comparison to Vick. I needed a good laugh.

Congrats to Vick on getting back his contract with Nike. He has done wrong in the past and he has changed his ways. He deserves to get a second chance like anyone should.

                That's Just My Opinion
Of course they released him after what happened to him. Nike is a buisness, did you expect them to keep Vick before?

I don't think Adidas or Reebox even offered him anything so I don't see how he could of signed a deal with them, and for what purpose? To get back at Nike?

It's simple why he signed with Nike, $.

Anyways congrats to Vick for re-signing.

Dog fighting is bad. Killing dogs is bad. Killing people is bad. In extreme situations only, is killing any animal (especially mammals) acceptable. But killing deer, moose, etc for fun is celebrated in our culture, as is killing people in the media and to a limited degree elsewhere. Just as long as those people don't look like "us."

That said, good for vick. He paid his debt, which was more than it should have been, and he continues to pay for it. He has been nearly perfect since his release (Ray Lewis style), so hopefully it works out for him. How many of you who still hate vick boycotted Madden when Ray was on the cover?

i am glad he is bouncing back, now he needs to stay away from bad situations, stay healthy and put up great numbers next season....

hmmm, still trying to figure out the difference between a deer and a pitbull...oh well not all laws make sense but you have to follow them.

Pretty much all the people I know that hunt eat what they kill. Totally different than offing dogs for sport. And they share with non-hunters as well. My freezer has a bunch of delicious venison in it that I didn't kill myself.

As for the original topic? I don't care. Of course Nike is going to sign a guy who is playing well and everyone is talking about. It's a no-brainer business decision.

After all, everyone has tortured and killed defenseless animals for kicks at some point in their lives, right?

If you don't think it's a big deal, fine. If you choose to believe that a few platitudes from Vick plus one good season means that we should all forget what the guy did, more power to you. That is your right.

I feel otherwise, which is my right. Deal with it.

Seeing as the 4th was yesterday. I figure id pull out the old American theory that everyone gets a second chance.

Im happy to see Vick get his. I hope he does well with it. A lot of people feel otherwise for illogical, highly emotional, and unrealistic reasons. To each is own. But no one can really say that people in this country dont get second chances. You can be angry all you want but at least be honest about that.
