Dial Up Connection! worth geting madden/nfl2k3?

i only have dial up connection so is it worth getting madden or nfl2k3 for ps2 to play on 56k modem and have all kinds of lag or should i just get them for xbox and say the heck with the lag and the 56k internet connection.

EA claims they're optimizing the code to get the best performance possible with dialup modems. With the PC version at least, you can play with a 56k connection ... if you connect with an opponent who has broadband. There may be some pauses here and there but it's definitely playable. But we'll have to see how good their PS2 networking code is.

They key is that not all ISPs are created equal. Some are much better than others, with a steady ping rather than having it jump all over the place. Try pinging or tracerouting some common sites, like yahoo. Or search for some tests. The key is that you repeat the tests several times and see if you get consistent pings.

Even if you can't get smooth gameplay at least, you could get updated rosters.

You might consider other factors in choosing the version to get, like which controller you like better, whether Xbox version has better graphics on your TV, etc.

I guess it depends on how much games you will play on line.

Segasports has the upper hand in 56k online play. If you're using a dial-up modem I'd go woth Segasports games.

How can you know Sega has the upper hand when you haven't even played Madden 2003 or NFL2k3 online with a 56k modem?

Just get an Xbox and get Broadband for Xbox live. You will never go back to 56k again!!! It is way better and Xbox live will be so much better than laggy 56k [censored].

Do the right thing and get Xbox live.

It shouldnt be too bad back when i used to play nfl2k1 on-line on my old 56-gay connection there were times when games were smooth and lag-free and i was hacking in with a free isp! But now i have DSL yipee!!

Get it for which ever system you prefer, if you like them both equally then go ahead and get it for PS2, since it won't hurt to try playing it online. Although I wouldn't count on smooth online play with a 56k modem.
