    From working in sports retail for almost 5 years. You can't just rip off the design of another company's jerseys and put your logo on it. I think that's fairly obvious knowledge. The more classic designs of jerseys that you see the Colts, Bears, Browns, etc. wear predate the companies that design them, that's why you see so many brands making them. They are public domain styles, so to speak.

      I think he's speaking in terms of material, not design.

                      Bottom line, any design changes to the actual look of the jersey would require approval by the individual teams. No team is going to have their jerseys or logos redesigned w/o their approval. When a team unveils a new jersey, that design came at an organizational level.
