Re: NFL Off Topic
There is no need to dance around it. It is just in terms of degree. Hunt's video is bad. Ray Rice video is worse than Hunt's and until further notice it is the worst video of them all. There.
That doesn't mean (the fact that it isn't the worst video) that Hunt's punishment so far (being put on the Commissioner's Exempt list, being released by the Chief) isn't deserved.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Unsurprisingly, the NFL still doesn't get it.
I have a hard time giving Kansas City any credit for addressing this situation in a proactive and constructive manner when they've known about the violent incident involving Kareem Hunt in some capacity since February. Their zero-tolerance attitude of cutting Kareem Hunt today rings a little hollow since no one apparently had any problem with Hunt being on the team until the video surfaced, despite possessing that knowledge. They are certainly justified in terminating his contract for lying about the matter, absolutely, but the impression created by their actions today is that the cover-up is worse than the act of violence itself, and that they will tolerate acts of violence against women committed by sufficiently talented players until the PR backlash is too loud. Only then will they take the moral high ground.
I also have a hard time with the zero-tolerance policy on violence against women in general. It's not quite apples-to-apples since this isn't a case of domestic violence, but many major studies have shown that zero tolerance policies on domestic violences do not reduce the chance of an abuser committing another act of violence and also do not make the victim any safer from future abuse. I would prefer to have seen the NFL and its teams pursue a disciplinary approach focused on supporting the victim foremost and rehabilitating the player second. Just spitballing here - would anyone have had a problem if the league and NFLPA quickly and jointly came down with a six games suspension for Hunt (per the precedent set by the Ezekiel Elliott mess, for better or worse), reinstatement conditional upon pursuing therapy and anger management, and the league also provides monetary support for the victim to cover costs of injuries and therapy? What the team and league have pursued instead today is the same punitive attitude as the NFL's substance abuse policy; they aren't interested in helping members of their organization with problems, they are clearly only interested in keeping their own image clean.
What we're left with from all this mess is a victim of violence who probably will see neither justice nor assistance with her own medical situation (and who is now publicly an accessory to her own misfortune) and a man who clearly needs help (speaking to mental health) now out of a job and without any safety net. The bloodlust of the angry internet - which demands swift, decisive, and simple reaction - is now satisfied, and everyone will move on until the next sufficiently bad thing happens. How does that make anyone or anything better? How does this prevent the next Kareem Hunt, the next Ray Rice, or the next Greg Hardy?
Everything about this sucks, and everyone involved needs to be better.Last edited by Hooe; 12-01-2018, 03:42 AM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I really don't think anyone knew there was a tape. And in this case, the woman didn't suffer injuries, could have been charged with assault herself, and the police ended up not filing charges against anyone. The NFL tried interviewing the woman, but she did not make herself available.
I can see why the Chiefs and NFL thought it was done. But when Hunt's story did not align with the video, I don't think the Chiefs had a choice. You cannot allow a player to go on after lying like that, putting the team and league in the portion it is now. He gets to be the example for the others.
While I thin the tape has been overblown, I do think what is on there is enough for a suspension. His lies allowed him to avoid that, and now they cost him his job.Comment

What I want to know in detail is:
- What did the police report stated.
- What the NFL investigators knew and when did they know it.
- What did Kareem Hunt told the Chief organization and/or the NFL.

What's stopping the NFL from getting the video in the same way TMZ did? If paying off a hotel employee is not illegal, why couldn't they do it?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I mean, the video is the property of the hotel, right? I just don't think the NFL is willing to go the depths TMZ is willing to go for the tape, but perhaps they should.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Way too much ado about nothing, imo.

Women like to be aggressors...in large part because many are convinced they can act however they want without the same consequences men face of they talk crazy or get violent with one another.
Not every "he put his hands on a woman" case is the same.
And this head hunting is ridiculous.
How many people would lose their job if they were held to this same ridiculous standard that fee, if any, other professionals are held to? How many people haven't done absurdly irrational and regrettable things post-midnight when alcohol is involved?

Overwhelming numbers of people pretend to be surprised/shocked by this kind of thing. I imagine roughly the same number that think they can treat people any kind of way with impunity.
Ol' girl knew what she was into partying with those men at that hour. She got mouthy and aggressive...regardless of who you are or what gender you ascribe to...when you behave that way, you'll likely get a mirrored response. She's just as much a part of this, but gets a pass for her role because she's a woman.
My daughter will very much understand that the key to avoiding "domestic violence" is to not get oneself in situations where it's most likely...particularly, don't treat people like they're anything more than animals, don't be belligerent/hurtful because that leads to irrational responses...and avoid abuse of alcohol and hyper masculine men. She ain't gonna be fed no white knight fairy tale about "men shouldn't hit women".Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
That's what makes you think the employee never approached Kareem, The Chiefs or the NFL. He went straight to TMZ. Started the negotiations for the footage. And after finally coming to a agreement. It was released.
The hard part for Marriott is trying to track who this person is. It looks like a cell phone copy. When someone uses their cell phone to record a screen.
But my wife and I agree on one thing. Kareem Hunt is an idiot. Your boy doesn't get any ***. And you let this chick call you an N word. And spark you into this whole rage. Your a ****ing idiot. He was still onva rookie scaled contract. He was in for a huge pay day. That's all gone now...
