I wonder when fans will learn to stop taking that stuff so seriously.

After the draft. Then it's suddenly deathly serious after the season ends again.

Man, if that's how he talks now, that's a helluva improvement.

Yeah I mean, he accidentally used the wrong form of their. Get off his back lol. Unless it's referring to the fact that he said Florida is going to the Sweet Sixteen.

And I think he deleted that tweet when he saw the error, because it's not there anymore.

The only way this "slippery slope" thing applies to this is if the league decided to allow coaches unlimited challenges. Unless that happens, whether a penalty could be called on every play or not is irrelevant since the coaches would be limited to a maximum of 3 challenges.
Are you saying there are no cases where a team thinks there should've been pass interference yet it wasn't called? Did you watch the superbowl 2 years ago?

That part of the slippery slope has already begun since certain plays are reviewed automatically now. So what if an INT happened and the review showed PI... call reversal, right? What if a PI was called and review showed it wasn't correct... change of possessions? Same with scoring plays.

People can disagree all they want, that's fine. I just want them to play the game, accept that there is human element and keep it moving. There is definitely a place for the review system and the way it is now (including getting help from NY like they will this year) is perfect to me. There is a balance, and including penalties goes beyond that imo.

What I mean is the refs bust their *** to get to that level too. Different job but doesn't mean they don't have to work to be the best of those available at their craft. Players that work as hard as we know they do still make mistakes so I don't see why we shouldn't expect the refs, coaches, and others involved to have some human error as well. So I don't think anyone should be blamed, it's all the nature of the event.

refs will be mic'd up next season reducing the time needed for some huddles, refs running all over the field for quick calls, etc

                            ###

The NFL will make this equipment mandatory for 2014 in all games. Vice president of officiating Dean Blandino says this technology will help speed up the game. For instance, if the back judge has pass interference on the defense, he can communicate with the referee, “We have DPI down here at the 35 yard line.” Or on a long gainer, the line judge can let the crew know, “It’s coming back, I have illegal formation.” The new technology can also help officials confirm 11 players on offense and defense, and it can help the deep officials make sure they have all the receivers covered (“I have the motion man,” or “Trips left, I have the 81 in the middle”).

No, I'm not sure where you got that from.

That part of the slippery slope has already begun since certain plays are reviewed automatically now. So what if it did? In either case, they got the call right. If someone is interfering with a play, why shouldn't it be called just because a player got an interception? I'm not seeing how anything in your scenarios are issues.

People can disagree all they want, that's fine. I just want them to play the game, accept that there is human element and keep it moving. The refs are there to make sure that players are following the rules of the game, not get certain calls wrong (when the situation is easily rectified) to preserve the "human element". That's ridiculous.
