Re: NFL Off Topic
My hunch is initially Goodell didn't watch the footage. I'm not saying he didn't have access to it, I'm saying he probably didn't bother to get it to watch it. But then when the new policy was publicly stated a few weeks ago, he had watched it and did not expect this video to see the light of day, but it did.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Rice plays at the increasingly fungible running back position and in 2013 had statistically the worst season of his career, so one could argue he was a declining player absent all this mess. Now it's likely he won't play at all for at least this entire season, if not more.
I wouldn't be surprised if he never plays another NFL snap, regardless of when he gets reinstated.
Vick was a rare talent. Stallworth, if I remember right, was ridiculously fast. Both had some sort of attribute that made them worth taking a shot on. Ray Rice was really bad last year in a position where the burnout rate is through the roof. Add the fact that he's not (in my opinion) a good football player anymore with all of the baggage and there's really no reason for a team to give him that second chance.
And I believe being suspended in the NFL even keeps him out of Canada. So he's going to have to sit for awhile.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: NFL Off Topic
Also, to go a bit deeper in what my focus is on and where this SHOULD head after all of this... just heard there are 21 of 32 teams with someone convicted of domestic violence on them. The problem is bigger than the NFL and damn sure bigger than Ray Rice. And even statements that you and Aaron have made in here show how hard it is to really go all in on these guys outside of sports. It's all a mess.
However, one single offense should be gone from the league forever, when everything shakes out. Violence against intimate partners isn't a switch you can just flip off. The investigation into accusations should be the only difficult part of it. The punishment shouldn't be. Too many people giving athletes (at every level, it's not just a professional thing) passes because they can run fast or jump real high. It's pretty clear the NFL has a very large (by comparison) domestic abuse problem.

Oh thats the funny part. There is no job to lose. The incident took place at the Revel casino in AC. The Revel shut down a few weeks ago. I bet you some former employee made a copy of that tape and sold it to TMZ.Comment

The casino went bankrupt? Hell, the owner may have released the video.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
With this news I'm wondering what the Cardinals will do with Washington. He'll be suspended at least 6 games next year now and I honestly don't care if they release him even if he's the best player on defense.
I hope no one gives Rice another chance, I don't know how the other men in the locker room can play with him.#HellaBandz

Re: NFL Off Topic
The only thing that could hold him back is the position he plays IMO. Not sure many FO's want to deal with that baggage for a RB. Otherwise I think he definitely would be given another chance over time, a season or two.Indianapolis Colts

Re: NFL Off Topic
That "presser" was a joke.
The Ravens organization falling all over themselves in this whole debacle.
Harbaugh sitting around talking about couples like she has an issue in this, deflecting blame off of Ray like typical in this culture. SMFH. What a ******* embarrassment that was to watch.badComment
