Re: NFL Off Topic
Jerome Simpson blew his 4,328th chance. He was cited in July for marijuana possession, having an open bottle of booze, and no license. This took place after he had been disciplined for a DUI last year. Kinda surprised he wasn't arrested for that, which I assume is why it took a couple months for it to get out.
Vikings cut him today.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Of course people don't have plans to stop watching over this. Why would they?
A terrible product with sketchy reffing and stupid rules ripping the fabric of the game apart will prove to be much, much more detrimental to viewership in the long run.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Of course people aren't going to stop watching and why should they? As long as the team we supports gets W's, since that's ultimately all we care about in the end, we'll keep watching.
All these years we ALL accepted and lived with the fact that there were a whole bunch of shady dudes/convicts/criminals in this league and even on our teams and now because what most of us have known for a while is out there and everybody knows now, we want to act outraged? Please.
And as much as I gripe about the issues in this league, I don't think the product is terrible just like I think the Officiating angle gets overblown a lot by fans.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
So Brandon Marshall is going right at ESPN's dome. Not surprising that it's pretty much quiet when it comes to talking about what he's said. No news networks running to report what he's saying.
“This is a tough situation,” said Marshall, a mental health advocate who has been a model citizen since joining the Bears in 2012. “It’s really tough because in situations like this, you’re not going to hear people defend themselves. There are certain things where, if you get defensive, if you speak your mind, you’re going to be judged and you’re going to make yourself look worse.
“For six or seven years I’ve sat back and accepted my part in everything that I’ve done, everything that I’ve been a part of and I’ve listened to representatives say, ‘Listen, you can’t win this one.’ And you can’t. There’s no need to try and win it. But I refuse to sit back and continue to let ESPN or any network or outlet exploit my story because they don’t know the real story.”
Marshall gave media members a 12-page packet of public documents that he claims ESPN had access to but did not include in the feature about his history with domestic violence.
One of the pages is a letter from Marshall’s ex-girlfriend, Rasheedah Watley, to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in which she writes: “I will let you know that he never hurt me or hit me. I was pressured by my family to make up certain things to get money. I was told to say that Brandon hit me and hurt me so that I could get him to pay to keep me quiet. I want you to know he never did.”
There are other letters in the packet from lawyers demanding Marshall pay $100,000 and $500,000.Comment

Unfortunately that still won't get any kind of publicity.--

Re: NFL Off Topic
Changing topics a bit but just got to thinking today; and man it feels so strange that most of the NFL stars I grew up watching are out of the league now (some are up for the Hall soon), or are transitioning on the way out.
Guys like: Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Urlacher, Kurt Warner, Favre, Ronde Barber, Tomlinson, Hines Ward, Moss, Owens, Strahan. No longer lining up Sundays.
and every week it seems like one of the former notable players of the past decade is transitioning out of the game: Champ Bailey, John Abraham, Charles Tillman all possibly done this season with injuries.
Also we're probably seeing the last 3-4 years of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees' careers; and it seems like the Patriots are already making moves with the future at QB in mind. (Trading Mankins, and Mallett)
I remember 6 years ago putting in Madden '08 and that intro was just chilling, hearing Brian Dawkins "Can you feel that" speech just sent shivers down my spine, and got me hyped for Football. Now most of those guys aren't even in the league anymore, Made me realize a new era is upon us in the NFL.
