NFL Off Topic
Gimme Eisen, Deion, and Mooch by themselves and take me back to the glory days of NFL Network. They use too many people now. It isn't really watchable to me.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

I understand that, but those guys have passion in what they do. Can't fault that.
The Fox and CBS crews bore me to death. ESPN crew is okay.
Love the NFL Network crew.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Wow. Bill O' Brien finished second in the "Coach of the Year" award. Led the Texans to a 9-7 record after they finished 2013 with a 2-14 record. I figured Garrett would be there along with Carrol and possibly Billatleast..Its not DelawareComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Garrett would have been my vote followed by O'Brien. Carroll and Belichick, I would have put towards the lower end of the list because those 2 teams were predicted to be 2 of the best teams in the league. Seattle was the favorite for most of the year to win the Superbowl. And with the Patriots they started out bad and that could have been due to Belichick trading arguably their best OLineman (Logan Mankins) for a back up TE who was going to get cut and a late round pick. And after the 6 game stretch where the Pats played Chicago, Denver, Indy, Detroit, Green Bay and San Diego; the Patriots were the odds on favorite to make the SB and depending on the matchup win it.Comment

But it's always a bit off looking at everyone after 1st. I don't think they vote for 1, 2, 3, etc. They just all vote for the winner, right? So it's not really a matter of who people felt was 2nd but who had the most people think they should be 1st... different criteria than we tend to look at it from the other side.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Since we're talking about SECOND PLACE I agree with this.

That would make how we evaluate them make more sense but I don't think it works like that. Just a guess though, I really don't know.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
The Texans turnaround didn't have that much to do with Bill O'Brien. They were never as bad as 2-14 in 2013 anyway, losing multiple games by 7 points or less. That was just a perfect storm that ended up snowballing and it signaled that Kubiak's time was done in Houston.
In fact, a lot of the same issues that plagued Gary Kubiak carried over to Bill O'Brien when it came to game management. He was pretty bad in that area. Catastrophically bad, even, considering he left an obviously-injured Ryan Mallett in the game against the Bengals, which was to that point the most important game of the season. We lost and it helped kill our playoff chances especially since Mallett was done for the year after that game. His playcalling was atrocious most of the time, he never used his tight ends even though everyone claimed he was some sort of tight end guru, and for a coach that is touted as one who has his team prepared to play, there was lapse after lapse after lapse after lapse that either lost games for us or prevented us from closing out wins.
O'Brien is more of a motivator but his in-game stuff is absolutely horrendous. Overall I wasn't that impressed. Must be improved. Not even close to deserving 2nd place in Coach of the Year voting.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 02-03-2015, 05:13 PM.Comment
