    Eh, not so fast.

At least seven teams had Bruce Irvin in their top 15

Quoting Kiper doesn't help. I'd trust a guy like Mayock more who said that Irvin is the best pure pass rushing prospect in the draft.

I highly, highly doubt that he would have made it to the second round.

He does need to find a way to be somewhat of a factor in the run game but being a pass rush specialist is something the Seahawks desperately need for their young defense.

I'm hoping in day two Janoris Jenkins and Sean Spence somehow are still on the board when the Lions pick in round 2 and 3.

I have a feeling Jenkins be gone and Josh Robinson will be there to pick, though not a bad consolation prize IMO.

and as a Rutgers fan, curious to see if Sanu goes in the 2nd or 3rd. The homer in me thinks he'll be a steal for someone.

What's up with Cleveland fans? Get past Weeden's age. He's not that much older than Matt Flynn and his body has taken a fewer amount of hits. I am sorry, but you just got the best running back since AP and Weeden who is immediately your best QB. There will still be a learning curve but Cleveland drafted two guys in the first round who are immediate starters. Not seeing the problem, and I'd give the Browns one of the better grades after day one.

          Maybe I am wrong.

            Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.

Man what day. Got off work like a hour ago to expect that SD had picked someone that I had hardly heard of and Smith got Ingram. I was hoping for Barron if no linebacker/o-lineman was taken to go with Weddle but, this'll do.

Philips is in a contract year, Barnes has flashed even though he's still just a situational pass rusher he knows how to get to QB for SD. To get a complete player which they say is the most complete linebacker is just astounding.

If a offensive lineman could fall to SD in the 2nd I would be going out of mind. Lamicheal James or Chris Rainy would be a nice pick up in the later rounds. I miss having that kind of threat in the back field which is the void Darren left.

I can dream. Does anyone know what time the 2nd round of the draft starts today?

              Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.

Patriots have two 2 round picks left in this years draft. Do you think Bill would consider giving up a few 2013 picks to get a 3rd round and or a 4th round in this years draft? Next year is next year, let's worry about that draft then!

I'm so bummed out that Harrison Smith went to Minnesota. We really need a safety in New England and I thought he'd be a good fit. Who do you guys see Belichick going after? Upshaw if he's still around? Janoris Jenkins?

Running back is a position we're always going to need every year because Corey Dillon made such an impact in New England that we're still trying to find the replacement. Green-Ellis did some nice things last year but he wasn't flashy, he got the job done and then left.

Anyways can't wait for the 2nd and 3rd rounds to start tonight at 7pm.

Bruce Irvin was the biggest surprise to me. I'm sorry, best pure pass rusher or not I don't see drafting a situational player in the 1st round. I just don't see it. Also, while I think AJ Jenkins is a good WR, I think the 49ers overshot for him. Anyway, I cannot wait for today.

I've been lobbying for the Browns to take Sanu for awhile...I think he's going to be very good.

                    Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.

I love what the Browns did in the first round. Maybe they didn`t have to give up 3 picks to move up to take Richardson. However they really wanted him and didn`t want to get jumped by some team. It`s not that big of a loss giving up those picks since they came into the draft with a ton of picks. Richardson is the best back to come out since Adrian Peterson. He is already such complete back, who gives Cleveland a weapon on offense day 1.

I also love the Weeden pick. I wanted him before the draft and was thrilled to see the Browns take him. He has a strong arm and great accuracy. He is a smart guy, who is also going to bust his ***. Maybe they could have got him at 37 but there was no telling he would be there.

Makes it a lot easier to watch in my opinion. I have a lot less time on weekends to sit and watch TV. Hell, my wife was getting into it last night, asking me why teams trade down, who the Bills should pick, etc etc. She doesn't hate football but has never shown any interest in it.

Just a question, guys that play sports (and were good at them), don't you feel at 28, you could ball against some guys 10-6 years younger than you?

Like, shouldn't Weeden have balled out? Don't care for the stuff about Young, Warner, Moon. Those guys had professional experience before starting. Young had the USFL and sitting behind a HoFer. Warner had arena league and NFL Europe. Moon had the CFL and same w/ Garcia. Weeden has experience tearing up a college conference in which defense was optional. Idk, I wouldn't be too happy about spending a 1st rounder on a 28 year old. Especially when McCoy hasn't exactly had the best of help on offense.

McCoy is garbage, not matter who was around him. At least Weeden COULD be a top 15 QB in the NFL. McCoy would be a Trent Dilfer on a good team. His noodle arm and pathetic ability to read a defense...ugh.

McCoy needed to be replaced. Weeden better be the right option to replace him.

My Rams need to not miss with these 3 picks in the second round. They make the right calls and the team can be back into solid playoff contention in a couple of years, make the wrong moves and its several more years as a cellar dweller.

I feel like that's an unfair judgement, but I'm sure you've watched more of him than I. I can't name 1 offensive playmaker he's had to work with. Except Hillis, his rookie year (?). It's not like he was going against average defenses either. If you spend 2 years trying to figure out Weeden, poof, he's thirty now.
