Sad, sad news. RIP to one of the greatest.
While I agree concussions are a big problem he's the only Charger death that will very likely be attributed to concussions.

*1995 - LB David Griggs, car accident
*1996 - RB Rodney Culver, plane crash
*1998 - LB Doug Miller, struck by lightning twice
      *2008 - C Curtis Whitley, accidental overdose
*2008 - DE Chris Mims, enlarged heart
*2011 - DT Shawn Lee, cardiac arrest
*2011 - LB Lewis Bush, heart attack
*2012 - LB Junior Seau, gunshot suicide

Still a tragic situation and a great player and great person gone too soon. RIP Junior

        They confirmed he was depressed?

I understand what you're trying to say, but this post is so wrong its not even funny. Having gone through depression, you have different thoughts, and you rationalize things differently.

I've been through depression. Saying that, it's different for anyone which is why I asked the questions I did.

Wow I can't believe it, don't really know what to say.

It's becoming painfully obvious that concussions and head trauma are playing a role though, this is becoming an all too common occurrence.

Loved watching Seau play when I was a kid, hell of a player, sad that he won't be able to be there when he is inducted into the HoF.

                RIP Junior.

                      Yes.

I'm not saying for definitely that's what's going on here, but that's exactly what happened with Dave Duerson.

Duerson was found dead at his Sunny Isles Beach, Florida[1] home on February 17, 2011. The Miami-Dade County medical examiner reported that Duerson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.[6] He sent a text message to his family saying he wanted his brain to be used for research at the Boston University School of Medicine, which is conducting research into chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) caused by playing pro football.[7] He left behind three sons and a daughter from his marriage to ex-wife Alicia Duerson.[6] On May 2, 2011 researcher neurologists at Boston University confirmed that he suffered from a neurodegenerative disease linked to concussions.[8]

WOW!!!...This is very shocking news. He was one of my favorite players to watch back in the day growing up as kid just getting into football.

                        R.I.P Junior Seau.

He may not have been thinking about brain research when he did what he did. It's Samoan custom for the family to see the body ASAP, so he very well may have shot himself in the chest so his family can see his face.

Seeing his mother breakdown was horrible. I can only imagine what it must be like for a parent to lose a child, especially like that. Marcellus Wiley is talking about him on ESPN now and getting pretty emotional. Sad day for football fans.

The New York Times did a great feature on brain trauma after several hockey tough guys died last summer:

                                http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/06/sp...pagewanted=all

I recommend every sports fan read that series and watch the video feature.
