I'd personally draft Kevin Minter over Te'o, I mean obviously i'm biased but he performed much better against top level talent for much of the season.

Only reason I'm asking because if he can play the position, then I don't think all this mess about him will affect his Draft status THAT much. I mean we've had players get arrested and kicked off teams and still wound up going pretty high because they had talent and could play.
I've only paid attention to is play in the bowl game and he played like crap. Considering everything said up to that point, I just assume that was a bad game. Kiper has him ranked #8 after all of this came out I think. Also based on talk about him (before all of this) it seemed like that was a bit high and that he'd probably be more of a late 1st, high 2nd round pick who could be a solid pro not just bc of his skill but leadership ability, heart, yada yada.

In other words, something like this that questions his personality and trustworthiness could hurt his draft status since it seems a good part of his ranking falls on intangibles.

        Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion

There are a few linebackers who have, IMO, better leadership skills then him, as well as overall skills.

He had an average year, but was more hyped up for three reason.

        1) He plays for Notre Dame

        2) The death of his Grandmother and "Girlfriend", 6-hours apart

        3) His Interceptions

The Bowl Game showed what he would do against an NFL-Caliber team.

Agreed. He is nothing more than average, IMO.

            Eh.

He'd be compared to Brandon Spikes who plays for the Patriots. A tackling machine, but is not really put into top 5 linebackers because he doesn't really impact the game. He's just there.

You're not going to get a fair assessment of Te'o on here. OS's dislike for everything Notre Dame will cloud that. He'll be a solid enough pro. First round talent for sure.

He doesn't seem to shed block very well. Was obvious during the national championship game. He doesn't look like a MLB to me. He seems to have good enough hands to make plays in the secondary. He's character has to be in question seeing as how this girlfriend thing is a total joke

Te'o seems very slow to me. The Spikes comparison is a good one. He's not a sideline to sideline guy but rather just a solid run stuffer. I still think he's a late first early second pick

I think the championship performance against a top team is what changed most people's judgment, not the hatred of Notre Dame. My assessment is the same as wwharton's personally.

wouldn't it be fair to say, given everything we know now, that he may have had other things on his mind during that game? he knew his whole lie was coming unraveled

He seemed to play fine after his grandmother passed, if I remember right.

your right. i guess i just have this feeling that ppl are selfish, so playing while knowing your about to be destroyed all over the national media might be more distracting than playing in the memory of a lost loved one, especially when that lost loved one didn't even take precedent over a fake dead gf.

either way, i'm starting to think he goes mid to late second round. good, but not great, this whole ordeal drops his stock.

How would everyone rank the top 5 safeties?

                            For me it's:

                            1. Vaccaro
                            2. Elam
                            3. Reid
                            4. Jefferson
                            5. Rambo

I would have Amerson at 5 but most consider him a CB

Yeah I agree with this list. I like big safeties so I'm tempted to put Reid ahead of Elam but he made to many great plays for the Gators. Vaccaro is the clear favorite though.

Chiefs will draft Geno Smith. I don't care what anybody else thinks....this is what will happen. Period. I will bump this thread and quote this post after the the first pick is in.
