If you're talking about me, I don't think that the lawsuits forced them to change all the rules but the ones that specifically deal with the head and possible concussions are clearly a reaction to the lawsuits. But if one wants to be cynical about the other player safety rule changes, one could argue that if they make it look like they're concerned with player safety and are willing to change the rules to do so, it can help them in court by showing that they have the players' best interests at heart.

Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: Upcoming Rule Changes...
I'm not one to hate on refs... they have a very difficult job. Rules like this make it that much harder, while putting a potential game changing call in their hands. I obviously hate the rule, but it'd at least be better if it were 5 yards with the ability to fine after review or something to that effect. If they enforce it only on obvious extreme situations then great idea... but I feel the same way about the hands to the QB's face rule and we know how that's been called.Comment

at the Patriots for abstaining from voting on the Tuck Rule. Pittsburgh was the only team to vote to keep it.

Unrelated: Bengals were the lone vote against the Crown of Helmet rule.
Edit:Originally posted by @RapSheetThe Tuck Rule vote was 29-1-2. The <s>#</s>Patriots abstained, as did the <s>#</s>Redskins. The <s>#</s>Steelers voted against the Tuck Rule change.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Upcoming Rule Changes...
Ah okay, I heard on the radio (DC station) so they probably just misread it or flubbed it to make the joke. It is funny that Allen would abstain too though.Comment

Re: Upcoming Rule Changes...
I can't judge these rule changes much, I've never played football with the exception of the occasional throw and catch. I'm always for safety.
But with all these new rules and rule changes.. How much safety can there be before it becomes physically impossible not to break these rules, because of the speed of the game, how big these guys are now, how physical and athletic they are.
This is Goddell and the owners voting on these rules. What about the players? These guy are out there game by game, whats their opinion? Does it not count?
Almost makes me think maybe we need a change of these owners meetings and have players meet on such things instead. These guys know what they are doing.. If they agree with such changes, fine. But what about if they don't? They have no voice..Comment
