    About the former players/comments...

Was most of this well known before Hernandez got arrested? I don't follow the Patriots unless the Steelers face them, but having the altercation with Welker and other things would seem to be a giant red flag...

Maybe not publicly, but I have to believe the organization knew these things internally.

I don't think there was anyway they knew about the murders. Sure they had to know about him hanging out with the wrong people, but even though he did that, he wasn't getting arrested. There were warning signs, but there are warning signs about a lot of players.

I agree that there are and they didn't know about the murders, but to say effectively "I was duped" is just....suspect IMO. It's one thing to distance yourself, but it seems like Kraft is trying to make himself a "victim" also.

I'm in agreement that Kraft handled himself poorly. Instead of saying he got duped, I think Kraft should should just own up and say he made a mistake drafting Hernandez.

What is this nonsense about the NFL having to do more to prevent this? Is the NFL supposed to hire psychics and know before hand who will be a murderer? Go out and hire some precogs? Or maybe they should put ankle bracelets on their players along with personal nannies.

It is absurd. Aaron Hernandez hasn't even been convicted of any crime yet, but don't tell ESPN that.

You know what cracks me up (in a sad way) about all of this? Every hour on the hour sports networks now want to talk about the NFL policing the players and what not. What a joke. Its a few dudes making millions of dollars, only working six months out of the year, and they should all be grown men... yes even the 20 and 21 year olds that just got drafted.

I think I would be embarrassed if a team and the press were talking about me on draft day or after I got drafted about "yes, this is a good place for him, there will be people there to guide him and keep him in line". YOU ARE A F'ING GROWN MAN!!!! Look at all the regular people with regular jobs every day that don't need to "be surrounded by" other grown people to help make up for the fact that I can't act like a sensible and responsible adult. Honestly people like Hernandez, Dez Bryant, Matthieu, etc should be embarrassed of themselves. Again think about it... I'm going to give you millions of dollars and give you a grown man's job, but I'm going to put in the extra effort and time to surround you with people to help keep you from acting like a 15 year old.

Seriously, stop and think about this for a minute. When they talk about players and places being a good fit for them so they can get the "support they need"... it sounds like you're drafting some handicapped person. Basically the team, coaches and NFL analysts are telling you that you're an idiot, an imbecile, *******, mentally challenged, etc.

It just blows my mind. A grown man needing other grown men to look after them. It's really pathetic. I'm waiting for ONE, just ONE analysts to keep it real while on TV and just point out how pathetic the whole grown men looking after another grown man thing its just stupid. I wont hold my breath on this one.

The latest info that came out on Hernandez is just, well now I understand why the Pats dropped him like a bad habit rather than sticking by him as they probably had some inkling as to the depth of his problems though i'm sure Kraft never thought this guy was THIS idiotic.

If all this is true than Hernandez just pissed away a promising NFL career.

                      Congrats chump!

So, let's make sure I understand this.

Ortiz has said that Wallace told him Hernandez admitted to shooting Lloyd.

..why the hell would someone have to admit to shooting someone to the two people that were with him when the shooting happened?

I'm pretty sure it's been stated that they were both with him when the shooting happened.

I saw the warrant info was unsealed today and I was honestly surprised at how weak the case is compared with how airtight it seemed when they took him in. They don't have the weapon and you can't ID him on the video tape...those seem like the kinds of things a good lawyer could get around.

Maybe they are taking the Law & Order approach, hoping that some time behind bars will get Hernandez talking, now that his "NFL Career" is over.
