That's what's gonna nail him. As I remember, that was the big sticking point to why Mike Vick saw jail time, because the dog-fighting crossed state lines making it a federal crime. I'm no law expert, but that's what I recall reading back then.

I'm just glad this story has somewhat faded and we can focus on football. Been a surprisingly small distraction for the Pats this season. I guess since he's been detained the reporters aren't coming to Patriots practices and press conferences asking about him. Wait a second, didn't they outright cut him anyway? That probably has more to do with it. Oops.

Strongly considering a prison break for November 24th when Denver comes into town.

There are federal laws that really hammer people when their actions impact interstate commerce. I'm not too well versed in it but I've heard of it.

Interesting it was the State Police that delivered the subpoena and not the ATF or FBI. This is probably just being pursued for firearms in Massachusetts instead of federally.

My understanding is that he was being pursued just as a witness not anything more.

Any idea on a trial date? I think he's going to walk.

I haven't looked for any links (so I didn't post it earlier) but I heard a news report on the radio about how "witnesses" were turning up dead. Anybody hear anything about this?

Yeah, a person they wanted to talk to was killed in a single car accident.

If you don't think the Aaron Hernandez story can get any weirder, wait a few minutes, and it will. The Hartford Courant has a story that is sure to get imaginations running. Thaddeus Singleton III, an associate of Hernandez's with … Continue reading →

                        Re: Aaron Hernandez Saga

                        I have a question.

Let's say there is a video camera at a Wal-Mart that sees a guy walking out of the store and then sees a guy behind him carrying a baseball bat.

Let's say that guy turns up dead, bludgeoned to death, in that parking lot.

I understand that not having the murder weapon is a big deal, but, in this situation, shouldn't the dude carrying the bat have to prove where the bat is and prove that the bat he was carrying did not in fact kill that person?

I am pretty ignorant about how all this stuff works.

I heard something about a woman too... but maybe they were just talking about the passenger of that car and not a separate incident.

The woman was the passenger in that accident and she was recently found dead. It was a separate incident:

Tabitha Perry was found unconscious and not breathing inside a Southington home. She died Monday.

Perry, of Bristol, survived a car accident in June that killed Hernandez's friend Thaddeus Singleton III. Police say she and Singleton, who was married to Hernandez's cousin, had a child together.

Three people linked to Hernandez have died unexpectedly in the last 6 months.

Not in America. The burden of proof is all on the prosecution, same reason you never have to testify in your own trial if you don't want. Reasonable doubt is that it takes to avoid a conviction.

Yep the burden is 100% on the prosecution, which is why I laugh when people really think the innocent get punished for things they didn't do. Those are so few and far between when compared to the guilty who walk or get no punishment.
