Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Here's my problem with the draft and groom thing: All the value years (the Russell Wilson years) are spent with him on the bench and by the time it's time to play him, you have to pay him. So you're stuck paying mid grade starter value for a guy that you have no more information on than you did the day you drafted him. You have the information from practices, meetings, etc. but you don't really know if the guy can ball. You've been put to two difficult decisions (drafting him in the first place and decided what the 2nd contract's value should be) before he's played a game.
IMO, if you're drafting a rookie QB, and you don't have an established vet, you need to see what you have right away. With rookie salaries fixed, it's much easier to just move on from a guy if you realize he doesn't have it. And if you have an established vet, why use any meaningful resources planning for 5+ years down the road? Get your guy as much help as possible, push your chips in and go for it.Last edited by dsallupinyaarea; 05-04-2014, 03:03 PM.NFL - Vikings

Would like to see Philly move up. They are in love with ODell from what Ive been reading. maybe a jump 16 or 17 gets him. I doubt we see a huge jump for Evansatleast..Its not DelawareComment

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I know the Ravens are interested in trading back, and I've heard San Fran as a possible partner who's looking to move up for a WR. Philly would make some sense too.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
At one point I thought the Vikings 100% had to draft a QB with the 8th pick but right now I'm OK with a defensive guy. Obviously I want Manzel if he is there, but I want no part of Bortals or Carr. Bridgewater I thought looked great in college games but he's been ripped to threads since the combine.
If Manzel is gone I'd like the Vikings to take Barr or Mosley and then see who's around in the 2nd or 3rd for a QB.GT: Herkyalert

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Keep hearing that Lee might drop out of the first round. That boggles my mind. If Seattle landed him I'd be ecstatic. Personally I would like to see the Seahawks trade down and get an extra pick or two in the 4-5 round. Not having that third round pick is a bit annoying.SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

this could happen... just saw on nfl.com that the browns are thinking of trading back up into the 1st which would give them 3 1st rd picks ....which sorta has me thinking or wondering.... if they take Watkins @4.... QB... carr with 26th... who would else they be eyeing with 32nd pick???Comment

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
we'll a lot of the mock drafts had us taking hyde in 2nd but I don't think he's 1st rd worthy although that's who they had us taken in 2nd with 35th pick. plus tate has been injury prone so why not get a back like hyde.Comment

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Everyone here in Houston seems to have Manzel fever still. I just cant buy into it. Not a #1 overall. It just looks like Clowney is a clear choice unless they can drop back for Mack or Possibly Bortles.
As for my Eagles, I really was hoping a defensive pick like a solid CB but now im hearing a climb up for a WR is likely.atleast..Its not DelawareComment

What's the knock on Andre Williams? I don't get it. The guy had a great season and was like 4th in heirs man voting. And I keep hearing his name in late roundsYou Look Good, You Feel Good. You Feel Good, You Play Good. You Play Good, They Pay Good. - Deion Sanders

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I think the Browns take either Carr at 4, or trade up for him with say Miami to stay ahead of Arizona. or i think they take the QB from Eastern Illinois at 26 or 35. supposedly those are the top 2 on their QB board. i think they take Mack at 4 and try to move up for Carr.
too bad Watkins probably gets picked up by Jacksonville, who in the NFL could stop a team of Watkins, Cameron and Gordon?Comment

I don't think they take carr @4 I think Watkins could still be there @ 4 most mocks have carr in the 20's or 2nd rd we get the best player on offense @ 4 then either go QB at 26 then with rumor of us wanting to trade back into the 1st that pick could be interesting esp if we get Watkins and carr.
I think the jags are gonna take manziel they need somebody to bring in the fans.Comment

and Winning, not players, brings in the fans. With Blackmon very likley going to be out of Jacksonville soon they will need a new #1 WR, they really dont have anyone better then a #3. They could also go with Mack, they just have too many holes to take a QB at 3.Comment
