    Lions first half observations:

    • Please don't be hurt long, Hyder
    • A'Shawn Robinson is clogging up some passing lanes still
    • Kenny Golladay is looking amazing, which lines up with the training camp hype
    • Jake "dual threat" Rudock
    • Jarrad Davis covered a TE, which means there's one more TE covered than all of last season already
    • Alex Barrett is looking like our undrafted rookie hero of the preseason
    • We're opening up some decent holes in the running game
    • Backups and starters on defense have played pretty well
    • If your team needs a punter, Kasey Redfern should be on their radar.
    • Our new unis look great on the field

Completed 62% of his passes and tossed two TD passes.

Should really open up a QB competition for the Lions this season.

With a capacity of 27K, The StubHub Center would be the 108th biggest stadium in college football.

I feel like the Chargers rushed into the move.

With them in that venue I've never wanted to go see a Chargers game more than now. Looks like a fun place to see an NFL game. Their opportunities dictated they move when they did... if they didn't then the Raiders might have taken LA leaving the Chargers trying to work something out in Las Vegas which probably wouldn't have happened.

The StubHub Center has the kind of intimacy of a couple of the CFL stadiums. The weird thing is, despite it having more seats in its football configuration it looks smaller than BMO Field in Toronto when the Argos play. (BMO has a 25K capacity in its CFL configuration)

Jameis just threw as bad an int as you will ever see, only to get bailed out by the refs calling him down by contact.

Justin Tucker recovered a fumble and then tried to run with it.

On another note, why didn't they let him try that 67 yard fg???? 4 seconds in the 1st half of a preseason game... couldn't have asked for a better time to do it. Maybe better if they were playing at home?

Through 2 preseason games the 1st team Bills defense looks OUTSTANDING.

Too bad the offense looks pretty bad by comparison. It's clear to me Tyrod Taylor doesn't fit this offense and Peterman is still a year or two from being someone i'd feel comfortable even thinking about handing the reigns to at QB.

It's definitely nowhere near time to start Peterman, though I've liked what I've seen from him. Maybe start him if we start out 1-6.

For some reason, I feel like the offense looks like barf, and Tyrod specifically, because I think he's lost confidence and hope in himself, Taylor that is.

He knows his time is limited in Buffalo and it's ****ing with his mind. Taylor was never going to be our savior (I personally don't think Rosen or Darnold would be either), but Tyrod was never this shaky, never looked so lost on offense. Mediocre sure but not like this, he was even better under those bloated circus clowns and Roman/Lynn, and Dennison's offense doesn't seem much different, apart from blocking schemes. We're still running a run first, quick strike offense, pretty much west coast.

Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am, I actually do like Taylor even though he's not great. But I think he's just in a mental funk, knowing he's basically a one year rental at this point in the eyes of many, and that fans had unreasonable expectations for him in Buffalo and if he plays to his normal average to just above average stat line, someone somewhere will want to put him in a guillotine, call for Peterman or Yates (if they keep him), then when Buffalo has a top 10 pick or trades up for a QB, Taylor gets cut or traded for parts in the rebuild.

                        Simms isn't holding back

Chris Simms officially joins PFT Live on Monday. He offered a preview of the candor he’ll be bringing to the show during a Friday morning phone call. The target was embattled Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles.

“The man was not put on earth to throw the football,” Simms said. “He is something that I would call a made-up QB. . . . He was a guy that in seventh or eighth grade they said, ‘You’re big, you’re strong, you’re fast, let’s put you at QB; you look like a franchise QB,’ and then it kind of stuck.”

It stuck all the way through college and the first round of the draft, where he was the third overall pick. It lasted into early May, when the Jaguars picked up his $19 million option for 2018.

Now, in one ugly misfire he seemed to carefully aim like a half-drunk teenager playing darts for the first time, the perception has taken root that Bortles isn’t what we’d been led to believe he is for more than four years.

Forty years ago, he might have gotten another season or two to figure it out. Now, three seasons are more than most get, and if a guy doesn’t get it by then he’s inevitably going to get a one-way ticket to Anywhere Else, U.S.A.

I agree with what you're saying though I want to point out a couple things about the offense that's subtly different than the last couple years. It's clear they want a more uptempo offense that's predicated on the QB making the quick read and getting the ball out ASAP. That's clearly not a strength of Taylor's. There's also a bit of a philosophical difference in the kind of QB play they want. It seems they want someone who can stay in the pocket longer and will run when absolutely necessary rather than someone whose first instinct is to make something happen with his legs. Again, that's something that goes against Taylor's strength.

We'll see how it all shakes out but it really feels like a lame duck year for Tyrod Taylor.

Only reason I can think of, high risk of it being blocked returnable, but who cares if we lose a preseason game? It gets the team and fanbase excited and you kinda want to run your team through as many game situations as possible right?

Unless they were concerned about injury, but it is a field goal attempt. Not really high risk for injury.

Yeah, I know what you mean, and I wholeheartedly agree. Whatever the cause, most likely a vile mixture of him not fitting scheme and having less than zero confidence, I don't see Taylor playing well.

On another note, I don't get why McD and Beane don't want to admit we're rebuilding though, it'll probably be a much shorter build since we already have talent, but a build nonetheless.

Hopefully by years end, we'll have some idea who our QB will be, I just pray they don't reach on Rosen, Jackson or Darnold unless they're legit. No more E.J. Manuel'ing.

Darnold has looked the best in my opinion, but things could change, if they don't, I see the Jets pouncing on him, then again it could backfire like another certain promising USC QB who butt fumbled his way into our hearts.
