Nah I think the Packers are getting there with the steelers for that. they basically pulled 3 wins out because of terrible coaching the niners game scoring to early. this week INT and the bengals game where no one knew how to kick a field goal and the Bengals kept saying ' Cosby come on here you go have a 4th chance now we want you to kick it'

Re: Week 8 Discussion Thread
That's largely correct.
There was a bad stretch in the 80s where Noll could have been justifiably fired and 98-00 where some teams would have fired Cowher but the Rooneys understand that there is an ebb and flow to the league and it's not always going to go your way. Tomlin has not had a losing season so anyone wanting him fired is just a moron.
Dan Rooney used to say that if you hire the right people you have to let them do their job and trust that things will work out over time.
Yes, since Noll was hired in 1969 the Steelers have been largely successful but 3 coaches in 53 years with 0 coaches fired is still an extraordinary amount of trust in the men they've hired.
They've hired good men, let them do their jobs and been patient when times are tough. That's what makes the job great. What else could a head coach ask for from ownership? In Pittsburgh, you will get a fair shake. No one is sitting in the owner's box with a finger on the trigger.
Anyone suggesting it's simply "because they won't fire you" is either ignorant (perhaps willfully) or missing the big picture.

At least give your team a chance. Throw the ball up for grabs. Who cares if it gets picked. You can’t just take a sack on 4th down.Comment

He hardly had a second lol. If you have better angle than we do, show us where he could have thrown it.

Re: Week 8 Discussion Thread
It will be an interesting race. I had Dallas as having the best chances after the NE due to schedule but Dak’s health may now be a bigger factor, although he looked good in pregame warmups.
The only team I do not want to see is GB. It doesn’t matter where or who, we will never beat you guys in the playoffs. I still have nightmares from ‘14 and ‘16. I think ‘14 was the one year I’ll never get over. Tony was so good that year and they were a Peppers forced fumble away from maybe blowing GB out.

Back when cool avatars were allowed wild takes like that could at least be tolerable because we could easily ignore the post lol.Comment
