Panthers will surely be avoiding the NFC South cellar. I think they’ll improve some but ultimately be a 7-10 team

I like the move by Carolina only giving up a 5th that could be a 4th. Why not take the chance compared to Darnold?

So what the hell happens with Garoppolo now? Watson catches a season long suspension and Cleveland trades peanuts for him as a rental? Otherwise it's down to a preseason injury causing someone to panic and overpay ala Sam Bradford years ago.

Seattle is still sitting there pretending they are going with Drew Lock or Geno Smith this season.

Don't see anyway they deal him to a bitter rival in division. They'd probably be more inclined to deal him for scraps anywhere else over Seattle.

He can't be worse than Darnold, so I guess that's good?

The Carolina QB room is... weird.

1 guy that finished top 10 in Qbr a couple years ago.

1 guy making several million more than him.

1 guy who is presumably the future, but is neither of the two mentioned above.

Yeah a lot of projected talent, but not so much results. Baker stands out though. He at least has a good season under his belt. Last year was a throwaway with the injury I think. I’ve been low on him but this season will decide whether he continues to be perceived as a starter or becomes a capable backup/disputed starter. Coming from the toxic situation in Cleveland and likely the leader to be the starter in Carolina, it’s all right in front of him.

Yeah I think it’s a good move by Carolina. You know Darnold isn’t going to be the guy, but there is at least a possibility Baker could be and if he is you’re set for ten years. Worst case you lose a 5th rounder

Yeah, they’re getting a better player for way less than a year ago when they traded for Darnold. Salaries probably similar, and they worked out a deal to get some of it paid by CLE.

It’s not exciting like getting a Pro Bowl QB like others team went out and got this off-season, but it’s a solid low risk, high reward move. I hope he’s healthy enough to prove whether he’s good or not.

Darnold is making almost 19mil base this year.

They're paying Mayfield less than 6.

With that investment, you'd think Darnold will get plenty of chances to be the guy. Rightfully so, to some degree, the guy has rarely been in a good situation.

But Mayfield is the better option... and if he's #1, it's not like they're in a huge salary dilemma, as the cost for QB1&2 is less than $25m.

Corral has to feel a little bummed.

The cost won't play a role. Rhule needs someone to win games to save his job. He's going to play the guy he thinks gives the best chance of that. The money is paid whether Darnold plays or not.

In my opinion Mayfield sits just above the Mendoza line for QBs (I've heard this called the Dalton line), but I keep hearing so much about his attitude it makes you wonder.

In a league where Drew Lock, Marcus Mariota, and Davis Mills are projected starters, he absolutely has a place.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.
