    Re: Week 18 Discussion Thread

Doug Pederson got fired. Wonder if Baalke is next. If they want a top HC candidate, theyre going to want their own GM as well

They're owner also said that Baalke is staying. Which might hurt them with some HC candidates. It gets to a point where I don't see why owners gets so enamored with GMs that they can survive multiple HC firings. The GM buys the ingredients and the HC has to cook with it, so you have to look at who's buying the ingredients

Despite finishing with one of the worst records in the NFL in 2024, the Giants are keeping their head coach and general manager as Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen will return to New York in 2025, co-owner John Mara announced Monday morning.

I'm okay with Daboll. Give him a QB of his chooisng. But, I wouldn't feel comfortable hearing "It better not take too long... I running out of patience". If that's the case, then just move on. Saying that publicly is like saying "it's playoffs or bust" with most likely having a rookie QB.

They're in a tough spot. I'm fine giving Daboll another year but if you do that and get a new QB and things don't get any better and you just fire him next year you've wasted a year of your new QB

The pressure from the fanbase is immense... I think Daboll deserves to get his guy. The pressure from the fanbase is why they paid Jones in the first place. Neither Schoen or Daboll wanted Jones, if we are being honest.

I agree. Jones was never their choice. They saw the success with Josh Allen and thought they could get a leap from Jones. I understand the pressure and why they gave Jones that deal. But, I always felt like having a Mid QB is almost worse than having a bad QB. At least with a bad QB, you're going to cut the cord quicker. With a Mid QB, all it takes its a few flashes and it can give you false hope, forcing you to pay QB1 money to a mid tier QB.

I don't think it should be playoffs or bust. But, it almost becomes a "Daniels/Penix"- esque potential from their next QB. If they go 7-10, but it looks like they got their QB of future, then I think they can be safe.

Raiders should've fired Antonio Pierce before he did the press conference not knowing his future

Should have fired him the week before he went on that 2 game winning streak, when they knew they'd be in the running for the #1 pick. I think they knew by that point that they were getting rid of him.

They're stealing a page out of the Bears model for success. Let your coach have a press conference the day after a game and then fire him

Barring a bad playoff collapse, I guess we're waiting on the Cowboys decision when it comes to HC jobs. I think McCarthy's contract officially ends 1/14. But, make a decision already

I think he'll be back in Dallas. The Bears asked permission to interview him and the Cowboys denied it so either he's coming back or the Cowboys know they're moving on and just being petty and making him wait a week to interview
