AJ Green getting hurt again killed me
V-Jax is questionable for the game. If he plays, he's your WR2.

    I'd play Tate at flex.

      10 team standard scoring:

Looking at my flex, I've got Sproles in there right now because I love the matchup and I think the Giants and Eagles could be a shootout with points flying everywhere.

I have a few other options such as Cordarrelle Patterson, Zac Stacy, and Eddie Royal, but the main option I'd really otherwise consider is Asiata.

I plan on going with Sproles, any opinions?

        Go with your gut.

I too think the Eagles-Giants will be high scoring.

Stacy is banged up, Patterson isn't getting enough touches, Royal is inconsistent.

Asiata is a decent play...but Sproles could get a lot of action.

Yeah, I actually just dropped Asiata and picked up Moreno lol. Just noticed he was still sitting out there. I'm not gonna start him in his first game back from injury, but moving forward he could be a nice play for me. I was able to scoop him up in both my leagues.

Re: 2014 OS "Who To Start" Thread

I suddenly have quite a few options at WR after making a trade this week.

Pretty sure what I have set is what I'm going to roll with, but figured I'd scope out some opinions quickly.

Starting DJax, Crabtree and Royal at WR but I have Larry Fitzgerald in a good matchup against Washington. His targets have been pretty steady since that 1 catch game in Week 1 so you gotta think he's bound to break out soon.

On the other hand, I feel like Eddie Royal has big potential this week and, unlike Fitz, he's produced most of the season.

            Thoughts?

              .......

3.) Vegas is predicting the Chargers score three touchdowns against the Raiders. They are predicting the Titans to score three against the Jaguars. Therefore, just because the TEs MIGHT score...so MIGHT the WRs.
What you say makes plenty of sense, although I just wanted to say that my argument mostly pertains to this:

4.) Your casino example doesn't correlate either. If Antonio Gates goes for 100 yards and a TD that doesn't necessarily mean that Keenan Allen can't go for 100 yards and 2 TDs. It just means that Antonio Gates had a good game.
While this is true, once a TD is scored only one person scores it. You feel like it's an opportunity given to one/both of them or taken away from one/both of them. The other thing is that if they both do the same thing, then you feel like that match-up "breaks even," so there is no gain or loss as a result. Now you compete with the rest of your players and their players. I'm just fearing that starting these guys will result in a "net loss" if I end up comparing these guys' points to his player's points.

5.) Both teams have favorable match-ups. Again the point of head to head matchups is to score the most points your team can in one week. You shouldn't even really look at your opponents team because it's fantasy you aren't actually playing against that team. Benching them because you are playing the WR's teams TE's I think would be a huge mistake. By your logic would you bench Demaryius Thomas if you wee playing Julius Thomas?
It's hard for me to pick Broncos' receivers period because there are just so damn many of them that Peyton is comfortable with in any given play. Meanwhile, Gates and Walker have been favorites for Rivers and Locker, especially in the red zone. That's what makes me think if a TD is scored in these games, there's a chance it's not from my guys but rather from my opponent's guys... and while he has them, I just question whether starting my guys is the right move to make.

Though I will start them, and report back. Maybe I consider this to be an experimental week, so I can sorta report back to see if maybe what I was saying makes more sense. In all, I hope I end out on top!

I guess the difference is when I'm entering this thread, I'm not just asking who to start like "this guy versus this guy." I already have that planned in my head, much like a poker hand (I know what combinations of hands I might go for). However, part of strategy truly is to account for who your opponents have, and you can prosper as a result. Does your opponent have a QB for a team? Try and start/pick up/trade for a highlighted receiver that he might pass to. Small things like that, or the thing I'm talking about, are more interesting strategies that I like to ask you guys about.

Thanks for listening in, DB & BnG.

Adam Schefter is reporting that Vincent Jackson (ribs) is active for todays game. He only practiced on Friday. He's obviously not 100% but is playing at home with a decent matchup against the Ravens.

Roddy White is healthy, not even listed as probable (hamstring) anymore. He is also at home with an even better matchup against the Bears.

If Jackson was 100% healthy, I would go with him. I also think the Ravens might run a lot, play ball control and try and keep this game low scoring. While the Bears-Falcons could be a shoot out.

Sorry I was out of town and off the "grid" for the weekend. I wanted to reply anyway (especially after Hillman's good game)... Against Manning defenses have two choices, either sit everybody back and dare them to run or blitz heavy and hope you get to him before he figures it out and hits his hot read. Scenario 1 is obviously good for Hillman. Scenario 2 is also good bc he's naturally a 3rd down type of receiving back that will often be the hot read.

The only reason I didn't list him in standard leagues was bc of the Jets tough run D but they decided to dare the Broncos to run so that would've worked out too. Going forward, I think you can start him until Ball gets back.

I hear you on Morris... would've agreed if I replied earlier, with all of the options you had.

Is it worth my two WR's being Allen and Wright this week when I have an opponent who will probably get a bunch of targets with Gates and Walker (and hope to both get and take away points from this guy), or should I pursue starting other WR's instead and not try two overtake this two-headed beast?
I think the bigger issue with your thought process is that starting or not starting these players would have no effect on their scores... it just hurts you if you don't put the best options in your starting lineup.

So you should look at match ups (like your SD WR is playing a weak OAK pass D) but it's a good match up regardless of whether your opponent is starting OAK D or not. If you want to dig into deeper details, maybe SD is playing an ARI defense that's got one of the best corners in the game but struggles to defend TEs. Then maybe you don't want to start Allen but your opponent will start Gates... same thing, whether you 2 are playing each other or not, you both should still make the same decisions about these players.

The only place your strategy makes some sense is with QBs and pass catchers (WR/TE) because their stats are directly correlated. Your opponent has Dez Bryant then maybe you'll want to start Romo so you'll get points whenever Dez gets points. Or your opponent has Cam Newton then maybe you'll want to start Benjamin since you know most of his passes will go to him.

Otherwise, there is absolutely no connection between the fantasy teams playing each other. Well there's one more... you may start GB D if your opponent has Randall Cobb so if he returns a kick for a TD you get the points too. But that happens so infrequently it wouldn't be wise to make line up decisions based on it either.

                        Vareen and Williams

Ridley is out for the year so Vareen should get more touches (btw, I think White is the pick up to replace Ridley). Williams should get a bit of an increased role too, as everyone has to chip in to make up for the loss of Cruz.

The Skins run D actually isn't too bad and personally, I wouldn't start Sankey unless I had to until he proves he's getting starters touches and doing something with them.

                        Spiller I'm not touching.

I like Hill but his touches are still unpredictable. If it looks like Benard was more injured than it seems, maybe give him a shot. But as is I think his opportunities are too unpredictable to play over the top two.

                              Which QB to start:

                              Russell Wilson

                              OR

Ride the Flacco train after that great performance and against a Falcons D that got torched by Cutler last week.

It is perhaps important to note that I have Justin Forsett and Steve Smith as well as Marshawn Lynch in my starting lineup.

Also, on a separate team, which Flex to play (.5 PPR):

                              Andre Holmes (Oak) v. AZ
                              Mohammad Sanu (Cin) v. IND

                              Joique Bell (DET) v. NO
Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) v. DAL

Mostly, I'm torn between Holmes, Sanu and Decker.

EDIT: New consideration, as I just signed Odell Beckham Jr. off of Waivers.
