Re: 2014 OS "Who To Start" Thread

Can't decide between Golden Tate or Bernard Pierce for my FLEX in my Half (0.5) PPR league.

Both have advantages and disadvantages but I don't know which one is the more "sure" of the two. Pierce is an experienced player with a great opportunity but faces a tough defense. Tate is playing his first game for the Lions but has the potential to break out in a pass-heavy system.

    Any thoughts?

Hey guys I have two questions on who to start. Should I start Jeremy Maclin against the Jags or Michael Floyd against the Chargers for the my WR2? Should I start Heath Miller against the Browns or Antonio Gates against the Cards for my TE? Thanks in advance.

        PICK 2:

        Torrey Smith (CIN)
        DeSean Jackson (@HOU)
        Golden Tate (NYG)
        Jeremy Maclin (JAX)
Tate and Maclin. I wouldn't trust Jackson in week 1 with the inconsistent RGIII.

Tate, but the Giants D is porous, so Megatron won't have a hard time, and Tate may not be targeted as much.

Maclin and Gates. Maclin is Foles' top target in Philly, against a weak Jags team, and the Browns D can't be underestimated when it comes to Miller.

Need quick advice: Wilson or Rodgers for tonight? Can´t really decide, I am a bit scared of Hawks secondary.

            3. Deep league huh... Britt or Ebron woukd be my best guess here.
I forgot to mention that team three is a 20-man league, haha. So yes, it's deep.

Tate, Tate and Britt were three of the four I planned on starting but I feel it can go anyway.

Tate + Stafford is sure to make magic.

Currently, I have Sproles vs JAX in the lineup. I also have Shady at HB1. But Williams might be able to vulture a TD or 2 for NYG.
Tough choice. I think Sproles is your best bet. Austin might be worth a try here.

I'd start Gerhart instead of Pierce.

Cooper's not a bad start against JAX but Sanders NEEDS to be in your starting lineup this week. I think Cooper is the only one I'd pull out for it unless you want to pull a RB and start Sanders in the flex (don't think I'd do that either so Cooper would sit for me).

Maclin's a good start but whenever there's a toss up (like here) I'm going with Floyd.

Said this a ton last year... if you draft a player in the top 2 rounds (like Rodgers here... or Rodgers in general if you got lucky and got him later) you should never sit him for his back up before the season even starts. Just how I look at it. The top 3 QBs should be beyond any matchup decisions.

Besides, Wilson is a great REAL QB. Has a long way to go to prove he's more than an average fantasy QB. The Hawks still have a great D and running game which means he rarely needs to do much that creates big fantasy points.

There have been a lot of Bernard Pierce posts too... he started the preseason looking good, but he's been banged up ever since. He just got cleared for the game a day or two ago. The Ravens oline should be much better but remember he was the WORSE rusher in a tandem that averaged less than 3 ypc last year... facing Cincy's D.

I'm pretty high on Ray Rice as a sleeper this year, but I'd take a wait and see approach on Pierce. Good move drafting him, but let him prove it on the field before you throw him in your starting lineup.

Alright, I have a couple that I'm not positive about:

Flex Spot, standard scoring, no PPR:
                        Shonn Greene @KC
                        Trent Richardson @DEN
                        Kenny Britt vs MIN

                        Same settings:
                        Michael Floyd vs SD
                        Shonn Greene @KC
                        Shane Vereen @MIA

0.5 PPR, everything else standard, start 2 WR and 1 Flex:
Marshall vs BUF (which is a lock)
                        Keenan Allen @ARI
                        Corderelle Patterson @STL
                        Andre Ellington vs SD
                        Knowshown Moreno vs NE

Ellington is questionable, and plays on Monday, so that's a little nerve-racking, but I feel like I should start him over Patterson, right?

                        Lastly, standard scoring, no PPR:
                        Kendall Wright @KC
                        Terrence Williams vs SF
                        Aaron Dobson @MIA
                        Kyle Rudolph @STL

Could go with any of the first 3 you have, that is a tough one. I think I'd take chances with Green and hope he gets a shot to run one in.

                          Floyd in the next group.

Allen and Patterson. It looks like Ellington has a foot issue and may not play. If he plays I may go with him over Allen who will have to deal with Patterson all day. Either way, I think Patterson is the lock with Allen being the question mark (he is a #1 but more of a deep threat against Patterson... got a feeling this will be a bad week for him).

Last, I'd go with Williams in a game that should be a shoot out.

Thanks. What do you think of Floyd over Allen in that 2nd group if Ellington is out? I would imagine if Ellington doesn't play, they're going to throw it 40-50 times in that game lol.

I like Floyd over Allen this week no matter what happens with Ellington. I think Floyd will will end up being the #1 there and would probably pick him over Allen every week besides 2 (when they play SEA). Allen's great but I expect more from Floyd.

If you've got decent other options I'd drop him for Latimer and see how the kid is used with Welker out of the mix. Of course, keep an eye on Welker's suspension being lifted (you'll probably get rid of him if Welker is back right away). Otherwise I'd take a flyer on Moore who I think works really well with Carr and has the most upside of the OAK WRs.

If it's someone you may NEED to start soon, I'd either stick with Hartline or go with Jones/Streater... the safest. I think Jones is safer than Streater but not too sure. You probably have more access to news about that group.
