That's the latest I've heard. All I can say is: what a moron. Seriously, what is wrong with these idiots? They make millions upon millions, and they jeopardize it all because someone cut them off on the road?

I just want to slap Dumervil.

Last I heard they were going to drop the charges but that was immediately following the incident.

But I agree with you they make earning millions look hard. It's not hard to stay out of trouble.

Differing accounts of the event. No surprise. Dumb Dumervil. I didn't think he was that kind of guy.

This is disappointing leading into the opening of camp. The Broncos are among the lead leaders in arrests since 2000. How embarrassing.

Even if charges are dropped, Goodell can still suspend him, can't he? I thought I heard somewhere that 'staining the sheild' will result in suspension whether a player is convicted or not.

Can he still suspend him. Of course it is his choice. But I highly doubt it. Denver may suspend him from a preseason game for conduct detrimental to the team.

I would like to see Denver do that to hopefully keep Goodell away. Meaning Goodell sees that Denver is punishing Dumervil then maybe Goodell will just not even look into it.

Now if he is charged I full expect a suspension from Goodell.

An interesting point was made on Les and JoJo (ESPN Radio). Apparently, Elvis is essentially non-existant in the Denver community. During the off-season, he heads back to Miami and stays there. So we really don't have much of an idea what he's like.

IMO, if you're making millions of dollars as a pro athlete, keep yourself miles away from trouble. Random girls, night clubs, a disgruntlement, whatever. Unless the word "charity" follows your name, keep it out of the headlines.

It's easy for us to see how easy it should be. It should be that way. All of us are quick to say "give me millions and I'll keep out of trouble", and rightfully so. It shouldn't be hard to keep your nose clean. I never wake up in the morning and wonder whether or not I will end my day in jail.

Youth+immaturity+money = disaster. Money makes you more of what you are.

Not to mention where these kids come from. They maintain their posses and that gets them in trouble. Some friend starts a fight in a club, NFL player takes the heat.

                    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

We all know NFL players / celebrities are targets in public becuase they have money. Some people in public may see opportunity in starting something with a high profile individual with the hopes of reaping financial rewards. Sad, but true. Most celebrities are smart enough to keep themselves out of certain situations...some are not.

What's frustrating about Dumervil is he and his buddy were the ones who instigated this. I hate to see Denver lose him for the season or longer, but part of me wants to see him get what he has coming to him. What he did was just plain dumb and leaves me shaking my head.

Based on what I read, my guess is that Dumervil will get off. He is not the one implicated in the police report and neither the vehicles or the guns were registered to him. One thing that could hurt him would be if they find his fingerprints on one of the guns. Goodell probably won't do anything because this is the first time Dumervil has brought attention to himself in a negative way.

His hearing is scheduled for August 16th.

Is DJ still out for 6 games? Or has it been reduced?

I really don't think it matters, Woodyard was leading the team (And maybe the league) in tackles when he was filling in for DJ, IIRC.

Woodyard has great speed, and is underrated IMO. Williams is still out for 6 games, yeah.

                          Ahh.....first day of camp.

It's amazing how different this year feels than last.

It's still a scary feeling. Until I see Peyton take a hit I will always be worried this won't last.

Just hope he still has quick release and can protect himself when the offensive line can't.

I agree, but it still feels much better to me than last year. The last three years have been a train wreck, and it's so refreshing to go into a season with realistic hopes that they can actually do something this year....even if those hopes hinge on the health of Manning.

It's still so surreal to see Manning in a Broncos uniform.

I was watching that SC special on the Broncos' first day of camp. Herm Edwards went through their schedule and put them at 9-7. I always think its funny to see stuff like that, but man...the schedule is rough. Have to have that first win against the Steelers.

I agree that week 1 game against Pittsburgh is a huge game for confidence. They need that win.

Problem is going to be the defense. They had it good last year with a running offense slowing the game down. This year Peyton can score quick and let's be honest I don't think we score quick on any drive last year expect for the OT "drive" against Pittsburgh.
