Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Yup, the Broncos are making good choices. It a pleasure to see our team making reasonable decisions instead of signing a name in hopes of getting one more good season. Abraham still thinks he's a top position player. I'm glad we've passed on him.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Total example of a guy you don't want:
I couldn't believe where Abraham said he wants a deal for 12M a year, and even if he was playing terrible...he'd still want 5M.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Phillips is exactly the kind of guy you want. Nice job.Comment

Totally agree! Abraham, Freeney, and Woodson can all suck it. Incredible to me that none of those guys puts a ring ahead of money at this stage of their careers. Phillips is exactly the type of player that Denver wants. I so love the Denver brass mentality right now, and is a reason why this organization resides at the upper echelon of the NFL. It is great to be a Broncos fan!
Really digging the Quinton Jammar signing also... he is a versatile player that provides depth at both the CB and Safety positions.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I get the Woodson thing. He has a ring. He went somewhere he felt wanted. I think, at this point, Woodson is happy with his career and just wanted to go somewhere he can make an impact and feel wanted. The Raiders, with their lack of talent, will sorely need him. So I have no real issues with Woodson.
Abraham is lying to himself or everyone else. If he thinks he can pull 60% snaps this year, he's dreaming. He's too old for that kind of work load, and his sack totals will diminish greatly if he's given that kind of time. He'll be worn out by the beginning of the 4th quarter.
Freeney is just kind of "whatever" to me. I think the Broncos realized he isn't worth the price tag. Another player who has bought into himself too much and thinks his name is worth something. That's fine, whatever. He has a ring, too.
Quinton Jammer essentially fills the need of covering tight ends. Someone big enough to physically handle them, fast enough to keep up, and talented enough to actually cover. It also adds insurance in case someone gets hurt. Champ isn't a spring chicken anymore. Each year, he has missed several games with tweaked muscles, etc. If our offense clicks again this year, teams are going to be throwing on us a lot. Better to have a secondary that's ready for the work load. You can get a quality rotation with Bailey, Harris, DRC, and Jammer. That's a nice feeling. And the fact that we didn't sell the farm to get him signed is even better.
I like that players are looking at the Broncos as good way to get the Super Bowl. When players buy in and believe in a team, it bodes well.
Edit: According to Mike Klis, Jammer will convert to safety for the Broncos. Quinton Jammer, DRC, and Bailey on the field at one time. Not too bad.Last edited by Broncos86; 05-30-2013, 01:20 AM.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I like the Jammer signing as well. What's nice is this signing isn't meant as a move to necessarily fill a hole, just enhance the situation.
Funny how the Broncos have signed three ex-Chargers this offseason. It would be great if the got their rings with Denver.
It's pretty much Super Bowl or bust this year. I can only think of one other season where I had expectations of Denver going to the Super Bowl entering the season. That was '98.
Since Denver's first SB appearance in '77, this has been the longest drought between SB appearances. Time for that to end.Last edited by Jonsco28; 06-07-2013, 10:07 AM.Comment

It's nice that someone could be injured and there's depth there.Comment

Agreed, safety was far from a position I would have classified as a hole.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Moore has earned the starting job and I expect him to take another step forward this year, and Adams was solid. I always like the idea of adding competition and depth, and Denver is always looking to upgrade all positions. Jammer played safety in college and CB in San Diego. Many SD fans thought Jammer would be a very good safety there and hated to see him leave before getting the chance to play safety. If Jammer beats out Adams...great!
It is nice to know Denver is only paying Jammer about 2M to provide depth at 2 positions. What is crazy is the thought that Carter could be the odd man out. I would hate to see him go, but Denver will have part ways with a good player regardless. This team is going to be one of the best ever assembled in Denver.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I'm leery of too many veterans who are there simply for spot duty and leadership. Jammer was the better signing, and I wouldn't want both Jammer and Woodson on the team. We have too much youth in the secondary that needs to develop on the field.Comment
