Re: Welcome to the Bullpen! (**2008 Houston Texans Thread**)

All we need is for the defense to be between 12-17 overall. That's a bounce that is not uncommon for Wade Phillips-led defenses.

And stay healthy. Please stay healthy.

The team was 6-10 but was literally about 6 plays away from being 9-7 or so.

I really think the draft and the offseason helped not only talent-wise, but just the mood that the owner is willing to recognize deficiencies and address them accordingly.

I agree. Need to see members of the secondary gel quickly. Even tonight, Allen and Jackson got beat badly a few times.

Our offense sure was clicking though. I know it's on the defense this year, but this team has some fantasy football studs.

Agreed, the passing game mixed with the duo of Foster and Tate is going to be really hard to stop. But that won't matter if the defense can't stop anyone.

I was at the game on Saturday and the Texans offense looked almost unstoppable for the most part. The offense really looked to be in sync and clicking on all cylinders from what I saw.

The defense will be better even if it only keeps being aggressive like it has been so far.

Still haven't seen the full defensive unit healthy and out there at the same time anyway.

Yeah, they can be scary good and certainly have the weapons to get it done. They've looked like that in spots for a couple years now though, so it's really just about consistency from week to week at this point. Hoping this is the year of hype that finally lives up to the billing...lol.

They definitely have the promise and potential to do it. Whether or not they live up to it, is anyone's guess.

Manning is obviously out for the game, and Arian is questionable. I think Arian sits and Ben Tate steps in and does a decent job. I have the Texans winning this weekend 28-17.

Texans have traded a conditional draft choice to Jets for WR Derrick Mason.

Dude running his big mouth again. Loved you DMase but you need to chill. If Rex Ryan ok'd letting him go it's clear his talent no longer makes up for his cancer potential.

I don't think that's a smart trade. He's clearly on the backside of his career and this past Sunday we proved we could move the ball without Andre. What we needed was someone to fill the hole that Mario left when he got injured.

Don't sweat it. It's for an unnamed draft pick so probably a 5th or 6th rounder. My guess is they'll get the most benefit from his knowledge of the Ravens offense and defense. And if Jacoby keeps crapping the bed, he'll be a decent possession target but nothing more. I wouldn't be surprised if he were cut in a couple of weeks either though.

Matt Schaub could miss several weeks with a significant foot injury, according to Adam Schefter.
