Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
Wow!
I usually don't post on here but you mfers are slacking. Let's get **** going guys!!!!
Miami is one game out of first and we have our toughest test this Sunday against the Titans.
I think we can do it. Chris Johnson can only do so much. Ted Ginn has something to prove and last time he was in this situation he torched the JESTS for Two Touchdowns and won us the game.
Oh and How good has Henne looked? Wow. Glad we finally found our QB of the future. It took us how many years?
Well GO DOLPHINS!!!!!Madden 17

Season 1: 3-1

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
The Dolphins have pick #12 and a few serious needs.
1) WR. They need a big time WR and Dez Bryant could be that guy. Many are concerned about his character which may keep him out of Miami. The Miami coaches though constantly lamented the lack of "chunk" plays in their offense last year.
2) NT. Jason Ferguson is old and will miss the first eight games due to suspension. Paul Solia hasn't proven to be anything more than a backup at the position. Dan Williams is a big DT that would really upgrade the run defense both short and long term.
3) OLB. Joey Porter and Jason Taylor are both old and likely gone (JT may come back). The 3-4 demands great pass rushers at OLB and the Dolphins only have Charlie Anderson and Cameron Wake right now. That's a little scary. The problem is that many of the top hybrid players in the draft are hard to project and/or may not be good enough. Sergio Kindle has experience but didn't get that many sacks last year. DEs Derrick Morgan, Brandon Graham and JPP may get a look as well.
4) FS. We dumped Gibril Wilson and have nothing but backups on the roster. Miami really needs a ball hawk and a safety with some coverage skills. Parcells has never taken a safety in the first round although Earl Thomas could be the first.
I see the best value right now with drafting Dez Bryant or Dan Williams. Both would offer a good upgrade to the team. Earl Thomas would also fill a huge hole for Miami at FS and has great instincts and ball skills but isn't very big. There are other safeties that I think the Dolphins could draft later. I'm not crazy about any of the OLB prospects at #12. Jeff Ireland said he expects to stay at #12 but I think they would be better off trading down if they want an OLB. Personally I like Brandon Graham the best. Tough, strong and productive but zero experience at OLB.Last edited by rudyjuly2; 04-12-2010, 11:05 AM.Comment

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
I should also state that I think TE is a need for Miami. I'm a big believer in having a #1 receiving weapon - I don't think it has to be a WR if you have a guy like Tony Gonzalez, Gates, Witten or even guys like Chris Cooley. A weapon is a weapon and the Dolphins could use one at TE. I was really disappointed in Fasano last year and I think the Dolphins really missed David Martin as well. Rob Gronkowski would be a really good fit for Miami but they would have to spend a 2nd round pick on him.
Most of the TEs in this draft are of the receiving variety and not great blockers. I can't see Parcells spending a high draft pick on any of them besides Gronkowski. Maybe we can take a flier on a guy later in the draft to get a better receiving option for two TE sets.Comment

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
I say get a TE later in the draft around the 3rd/4th round.
At 12, since we signed Dansby, it opens up so much to where we can take the best player available at our needs.
I also would not mind going after Brandon Marshall now that he has signed his tender.Comment

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
Now I'm thinking they re-sign JT and draft Dan Williams at #12. If they go OLB I'd prefer a trade down. Brandon Graham is my boy at the moment.Comment

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
He certainly got paid. $50 million over 5 years with $24 million guaranteed. That should keep him happy.Comment

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
How about this, trade Ronnie Brown for a 2nd round pick and draft CJ Spiller, that would make a splash.
But honestly, I trust the trifecta, and would not mind anyone they draft for the defense.
I am excited to see Vontae and Sean next year too.Comment

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
A Spiller-Ricky combo would be nice. I don't know if they get a 2nd rounder for a banged up Ronnie though. Spiller could go to Buffalo at #9. Buffalo is trying to get a 2nd rounder for M.Lynch. That's not going to happen.Comment

Re: Official Phins Fans Thread
Brown's far from untouchable but I don't think he's that expendable either. He's one of the best backs in the NFL AND is the center piece for the way they like to run the wildcat. Moving him to basically get Spiller and a 2nd round pick (instead of having Brown and a 1st round pick) doesn't make much sense to me.Comment
