Re: Official New York Jets Thread

Figured I'd go ahead and bump this with all the turmoil surrounding the team. LT's contract is up and with him calling out Holmes, I wouldn't be shocked if he left unless we get rid of Holmes which is going to be hard to do with that fat *** contract we just gave him. Other players that need to be resigned are: Bryan Thomas, Jim Leonhard, Sione Pouha and Brodney Pool.

So going into the draft we'll probably have holes at:
RB or WR depending on whether Plax, LT, and/or Holmes stay
RT because Wayne Hunter isn't very good
    Pass rushing LB
Maybe safety because Leonhard has gotten hurt in his last 2 years and I'm not sure how old he is

Then there's that whole Sanchez situation. I would draft a QB later in the draft (4th-6th rd) but we probably won't.

I'm sure I forgot about something but that's all I can remember right now.

Thomas and Leonard can go IMO.

I say re-sign Pouha and Pool.

No way you cut Holmes with that kind of contract. Just gotta deal with him. Let Plaxico find another team.

I like Colston from New Orleans at WR but he seems like he'll command big bucks. Maybe Dwayne Bowe from KC.

Wayne Hunter should go. I know we just resigned him but they need a new RT in the worse way.

I hope we get a pass rushing DE with our first pick in the draft. The Jets simply cannot get to the QB without some elaborate, stacked scheme. They need to generate a pass rush from their line. Maybin was great but I am not sure if he is an every down player.

2nd round- Right Tackle or Outside Linebacker

      3rd round- Running Back

4th round- Wide Receiver or Safety

      5th round - QB

I'm not sure I like the make up of the team this year. We still have holes at RT, RB and maybe even WR depending on if Stephen Hill any good. And that's not even mentioning our QB situation.

We should still be solid on D, but I really don't like the Laron Landry pick up. We basically swapped out one injury riddled player (Leonhard) for another guy who is seemingly always hurt.

Hard Knocks should've come back to the Jets this year. Cromartie at WR, Tebow rocking it, Santonio Holmes out for the next preseason game. Revis is actually quiet this year.

Re: Official New York Jets Thread

I posted this in the preseason thread, but it's mostly about the Jets team as a whole.

I'm going to give my thoughts on the "Metlife Bowl," The Giants vs. The Jets as that was the only game I watched tonight.

The Jets keep trying to be a ground and pound team. it's not working. With the score being 16-3 at the end of three quarters, the Jets are obviously doing something wrong. That something? Trying to be a run first team. On one of Tebow's last drives, where the Jets got a field goal, I was really thinking: if Tebow gets the Jets a touchdown here, the QB battle between Sanchez and Tebow is much closer than people realize. I still firmly believe that, though the Jets settled for a field goal. Sanchez failed to get anything done when given the chance and he threw a pick six. I strongly believe that Tebow could become the Jets' starting quarterback, if not by week 1, very soon after.

I decided pregame that, whoever won this game, I would be a fan of. Due to the fact that I don't have NFL Sunday Ticket, these two teams are the closest to me, so they're the two teams I'll get to watch season round. I'm now a strong Giants fan, unless the Jets third stringers can rally to beat the Giants' third stringers. However, from what I saw from the starting teams, I'll be rooting for the Big Blue.

The announcers kept saying that the Jets are injury plagued at receiver. The Jets are even thinking of playing Antonio Cromartie at wideout. I was dumbstruck. Do they have no caproom? Sign a receiver! That's what filling the roster's all about in Madden: signing FA's throughout the season, not just in the offseason, for depth. There are plenty of WR's in free agency to be signed.

I didn't watch the game, but someone needs to put Wayne Hunter out of his misery because he's going to get Mark Sanchez injured.

Jets have a lot of work to do before Week 1 vs the Bills.

                  Offense looked good. Defense too.

Good start to the season. Sanchez, with exception being that bonehead interception - played very well. Impressed with his day.

I actually liked the looks Tebow provided just by being on the field. It's a nice change of pace that I can get behind.

At one point I believe Rich Gannon questioned how it would affect Sanchez's momentum during a drive. I don't see it being that way. I think it gives Sanchez a break and time to think about his next move inside the 20 (or 30, as I believe was the case during that drive).

Wish I could've watched this one. How did our O-Line look? Specifically in pass protection.

Well Hunter wasn't there so it was already much better.

Sanchez seemed to have some time. Line handled Mario Williams very well. He was a non factor.

                      Zero sacks. They did well.

Alrighty then. Now that this mess of a season is over and Rex is still at the helm we can look forward to the draft. Holes all over the O-line, WR, and of course QB. I think we need an explosive guy at a skill position like a Kenjon Barner type. On defense we probably should go after a LB or D-lineman because we couldn't stop the run for ****. Pass defense was good even though we were Revis-less for most of the season though so we might be good in the secondary.

Re: Official New York Jets Thread

First round- I want one of the Offensive Tackles out there. All the mocks I've seen show OLB/DE hybrids. Presumably because Pace will be cut and Bryan Thomas is old as dirt.

But I want that OT that we can have for the next 4+ years without having to worry about that position again. We should be able to snag the second highest rated tackle drafting at #9.

Second round- If QB Landry Jones is there, take him. If not wait for a later round to get a QB. I know he has so many flaws but I wouldn't mind EJ Manuel in the third if we miss out on Jones in the 2nd.

Third round- I'm not sure if we even have this pick because of the Tebow trade. If we do, I'd go OLB simply because it's a need pick.

After that, just fill needs. TE, SS (Landry's gone), WR.

I'm hoping we fill the GM spot with Gamble from the 49ers. He had a ridiculous draft in 2011.

I agree about going OT in round 1. Like you said though all the mock I've seen have us trying to get Mingo from LSU.

Had no clue Landry was gone. I read somewhere that Eric Reid is leaving LSU so maybe we can get him in the 2nd if he's there.

As far as QB I would like Jones, but I'm not a fan of Manuel at all. Maybe if he's still there in like the 4th round but he seems like a project. Is there anyone in free agency we can get to start for like a year or 2.

Laron Landry told the media that he's not giving the Jets a hometown discount which is why I said he's gone. We have like no cap room.

The Jets can bring in a cheap backup QB, yeah. But not anyone of quality who is going to challenge Sanchez unfortunately. Which is why I want them to draft a QB no later than the 2nd round. I agree about Manuel. He just intrigues me is all. I'm not enamoured with him or anything. Such a weak QB class overall.

We have so many holes to fill that it's scary.
