    3 – WR D. Moncrief, Mississippi
    3 – OLB J. Attaochu, Ga. Tech

    5 – CB W. Aikens, Liberty
    6 – WR J. Brown, Pittsburgh State
    6 – OLB L. Webster, Bloomsburg
    7 – NT R. Carrethers, Arkansas State

(Steelers pick up extra 3rd & 6th rd picks for trade down in 1st round)
Where do I sign? That's a great mock. I don't know if we'll move down and if we don't I'd like to see Darqueze Dennard. Another NT option I like is Zach Kerr of Delaware. I'm not real sure Webster fits our defense. If he even plays defense instead of TE, I think he fits best in the 4-3. Also, I really like the Tuitt Pick and you might already know this, but he'd be a Defensive End in our scheme.

On the schedule. I'm not a fan at all of playing Baltimore, yet again, on a short week however, I really think the schedule plays in our favor this year.I love that in the first 9 weeks, 2/3 of our division games will have already been played. If there was ever a season in which we have no excuse for missing the playoffs, it's this one. There are easily 10 games we can win on that schedule, EASILY.Frankly, I see no reason we couldn't open the season 3-1 or 4-0 (with a possible BMore loss, we usually split those). My biggest worry is NT this season, I'm not sold on SMac and we don't have a legit compliment at DE to Heyward. I expect Cam Thomas to start at that other DE spot. Don't be shocked if we go OLB in the 1st round if Anthony Barr falls though.

Lions will probably take Gilbert at #10. The only team we need to worry about is the Rams at #13 taking Evans. The Bears at #14 will probably go DT or CB.

If Evans gets past the Rams, he should be the Steeler pick. If that doesn't happen, then Steelers will probably be choosing between Mosley, Dennard, or Nix.

Why is Ike 2.0 a bad thing? The only thing Ike has ever really lacked is the ability to catch the football. As a cover corner, he's been one of the best in the league until 2013.

As far as Evans, I'm not convinced he's anything more than a 'system success'. He has size, he has flash, there's no denying that, but I'm not convinced he'll flourish in the NFL. I don't want anything to do with Nix in R1.

CJ Mosley wouldn't be a bad pick if the idea is to start him beside Timmons. He'll bring leadership and coverage ability. Both things we severely lack.
      Sincerely, WesRock On Steeler Nation!

Yup, I wouldn't be upset at all if things went down this way. The trade he had happening was with the Jets to move back to 18. I like Tuitt too and yep definitely a DE in our scheme.

Agree that the schedule looks favorable initially. I say initially because you never know what these teams are going to really be like. Well, except maybe the Browns, but even they have to get better at some point. I also agree on Barr. If he fell to 15, I don't know that you can't take him.

Granted it's the usual pre draft BS from other teams, but I wouldn't mind the Steelers trading down in the first to get more picks. Unless there is a blockbuster type player left in one of the top corners, a top WR, I'd rather have the bounty.

Yeah, from the way it looks, we can trade back and still get Kyle Fuller who I really like. Has Steeler written all over him. Sounds like the most likely trade partners would be either the Jets or Cardinals.

Definitely surprised, but not upset. Pitt typically doesn't take CBs in the 1st. Shazier most likely plays ILB. He's same size as Timmons but much faster. Ran a 4.38 40 which is ridiculous for a LB.

I'm guessing they go CB or DL in the 2nd. Then the other in the 3rd.

Yeah, I like the pick. He looks physical on tape, good speed, and can start right away. It'll be nice to have a guy who can shadow tight ends and backs, hopefully freeing up guys like Troy. I'd say DL or WR in round two.

                    Can't agree

Took an undersized LB who will get swallowed up by NFL blockers if no help from the D line. If they wanted to go ILB, Mosley was the pick.

How is he undersized at 6'1" 237lbs? Here's some other good Steeler ILBs, past and present.

                      Timmons - 6'1" 234lbs
                      Foote - 6'1" 239lbs
                      Farrior - 6'2" 242lbs

Obviously Pitt had Shazier rated higher than Mosely. Shazier is a playmaker with blazing speed. He's faster all of the DBs and WRs other than Gilbert and Cooks who are also much smaller.

237 was his combine weight, as he made a conscious effort to gain it

His playing weight has been reported at around 215. Hope he proves me wrong, but this kid will get swallowed up by lineman unless that DL can occupy blockers for him to succeed. Watch his highlights, he looks like a safety on film.

Again, not liking the pick, but I would love to be wrong and see him succeed.

So you're saying in a month in a half (last game was 1/3/14) he put on 22lbs for the combine? All the while doing all that work at the performance center, which invloves a lot of cardio, getting ready for it? Not likely. Besides, everything I've seen had is playing weight at 230lbs. Liked the Tuitt pick, he was personally my #1 DL for us on the board. For round 3 I'd like to see a CB. My top guys are Phillip Gaines from Rice, Pierre Desir from Lindenwood, Jaylen Watkins of Florida or Bashaud Breeland of Clemson.

Then tomorrow a WR or TE tomorrow.

The draft is going ok so far. Not sure about the Archer pick, even with the speed. All the picks outside of the tackle have been quick and athletic guys.

I have read more than one scouting report about his playing weight. I'll believe guys that watch him regularly over the school site. You can google articles about it. Information is out there. Here's one excerpt from an article about the combine,

Shazier also weighed in at 237 pounds and said the main question he gets is about keeping on weight. One scout said he expected Shazier to be in the 220s, so putting on this weight for the combine and pro day, and still showing speed and explosiveness, bodes well for him.
I hope for the best like I said before.
