Greg Jones has decent size. 6'1 240 and he's a tackling machine. I've watched alot of him. Hopefully he turns out to be a steal.. But yea our LB crew doesn't sound too great. Hopefully Bulluck can give us one more good year. He did ok coming off that injury.. Boley is too inconsistent. Picking up Prince should help with those spread teams we play later on. Grant was getting killed out there sometimes. Haha!

Yea I'm definitely believe Eli will do some big things this year. We just need to WR core to stay healthy especially Steve Smith. I didn't realize how important he was until he got hurt.

Yea Jernigan should definitely help with the kicking game. Our special teams was the worst last year without Hixon. That was another good thing about drafting Jernigan. I wonder if Darell Scott can get back there with his speed..

It doesn't look like Cofield will be returning to the team this year. Glad we drafted Austin in the 2nd round. We should still have a good rotation with Canty, Joseph, Austin and Bernard.

Still going to be a lost. Cofield produced big for us this year.

re: Official NY "IN THE COMPANY OF GIANTS" Thread

The draft was excellent for what we did. Now it is all a matter of the players turning into what I hope.

        1. Prince was an easy choice due to the high value of the pick and the fact that TT and CWEB are both good but not great players plus Ross is no good and cant stay healthy.

        2. Austin is an excellent pick here and was a top 15-20 talent in round 1 if he would not have been suspended last year. Has character issues but nothing that is criminal and I think we might have struck gold because he fits perfect to what the Giants lack and that is a pass rushing d-tackle. Giants never get pressure up the middle and Austin is a high motor beast.

        3. Jennings is a shifty quick guy that will help in 2 areas. He will be a slot man and a kick and punt returner. I do not think Steve Smith is going to play at least till mid season and he will not be the same the whole year. That injury is very bad and it takes 1 year to get back to normal.

Greg Jones I think will be a solid LB who will start in a year or 2 and will be solid but not great. He has good instincts and a solid tackler.

Scott looks like he can be a solid 3rd down back but he needs to learn to pass block before using his speed.

Finally with get some Giant talk in here... I disagree about Webster. I believe he's one of the top 10 corners in the league. He consistently holds down his side of the field. He'll occasional get beat here and there but overrall there's only about 5 corners in the league I would choose over him. The other top corners are about on the same level as him. I'll never forget how he played for us in the playoffs during that superbowl run.. He shut down J. Galloway(played great that year), TO, GBs WRs(who ever he covered), and did a good job on Moss in the superbowl.. But I hear what you saying. I wouldn't say he's great either but he's very good though. Thomas is above average.. He good but not great and injuries have defenitely slowed down A.Ross career. So I was cool with getting Prince. Where especially going to need all the DBs we can against the Saints and GB. haha! Yea Austin was definitely a steal especially since I don't think where going to be bringing back Cofield.

Aaron Ross better make an impact this season or Im done with him. He excited me in his rookie season and completely vanished every year since. Prince Amuk was a steal and necessity imo.

I hope and pray that by some miracle we sign Barret Rudd (to a decent contract and not crack head A Rolle money).

Once the giants learn to play well against good teams, not only the seattle's and raiders of the league, we will be an annuall playoff team again.

Yea that would be great if we could land Rudd.. That would definitely be and upgrade to the posistion that we need.

Man you don't like Rolle huh? Haha! I've seen you take a few shots at him. I really like him. I mean he does take bad angles sometimes and give up a few big plays here and there but I've always been a fan of his and he definitely impacted the team last year with some big plays.. Way better then the days of C.C Brown..

I'm looking for Phillips to have a big year. You can tell he wasn't all the way back to 100 percent but he still played solid..

re: Official NY "IN THE COMPANY OF GIANTS" Thread

Rolle lost me when he signed that ridiculous contract. That and giving up bombs on a regular basis. Kenny has a knee issue but hes losing stock by the year. He's gonna have to put it all together soon or the team will look elsewhere (I heard they may try A Ross at safety? Thats rich).

Our D line is fine (although they like to disappear in big games). The linebacker are easily the weaker part of the team. i was behind team Goff and MLB until I realized how stiff he is. He has great size and can stop the run, but his coverage skills are abysmal. Im convinced Michael Boley is the softest guy on the team. He was brought in because he is fast enough to cover the great TEs we face...is he? And I wish I could mention a third linebacker but Im sure Bullock saw 10 plays a game at most and Deon Grant was the real third linebacker for us... all 210 pounds of him.

Side note, we need to take zone blitzes out of the playbook. Watching Tuck and Osi cover something is embarrassing. its not in their bag of tricks Perry, let them get sacks. We wont be switching to a 3-4 any time soon lol.

Our D line is ok. I say ok because they tend to vanish in big games/critical times in big games. I love Jerry Reese but someone has to tell him enough is enough. We are oversaturated at D line. We have too many guys who dont get to see the field. Its time to have a fire sale on some of those guys imo. Tuck, Osi, Kiwi, Paul, Tollie, Canty, Linval, Austin, Fatty(guy from seattle who never played,I forget his name because he sucks ***), and all but gone Barry is just too much talent on one roster. We need to run a 7-2-2 with these guys (not really).

I could go on but it just boils down to the team not losing composure when things go wrong. SO many examples of this from last year.

I think he will change your mind about him this season and I really think Phillips will be on point this season.. I definitely agree that we need to address the LBs for real. Like you said Goff is too stiff and a liability in coverage. Boley is soft and too off and on for me. Bulluck is just too old. Don't know whats going on with Sintim. Wish he would finally break out but it doesn't look like thats going to happen. We definitely have too many dlineman and thats why I'm not too opposed to letting go Kiwanuka and Cofield but we need to address the LBs whenever Free Agency starts.

Paul Posluszny is interested in playing with the Giants. This would be a nice little upgrade to our LB core and he's played under Fewell in Buffalo. Would be a perfect fit IMO.

I dont know. Id still rather Barret from TB. But Puz would certainly fit in this scheme. Doubt it goes down though.
