Oh well. We can deal without Osi for the first week or two, definitely. DE is the least of our problems.

What do you all think of Eli's comments? I definitely wouldn't say he's in Brady's "class" (I'd put Eli at 6-8), but I like that it's pretty much the first time in his career that he';s said anything noteworthy or important. I think this is the year he realizes that he has to take charge and it's him or no one.

Can it get any worse? Now we lose Terrell Thomas for the season and we already have Prince out until October and B.Johnson is gone for the year. I guess we'll be signing some guys off the street to add some depth to the secondary which will result into our secondary getting torched.. A.Ross is going to really have to step up because after him its looking bad with the CBs..

It's looking pretty bad with Ross in this game as is. He gives receivers huge cushions, and forgets to touch the guy when he's on the ground.

Yea I really wish they would just stop playing preseason games after the mass casualty we have taken this year.

Witherspoon gets an oppertunity when Terrel goes out and 10 mins later he goes out for the year.

So we go from 5 nice CBs (minus Ross of course) to 2 CBs left on the roster.....and with Antrell and PTSD Kenny Phillips, our secondary is in danger of perpetual torching this season.

Oh and Marv Austin is done...whats next?

We should skip preseason next year. It's crazy that teams like the Dolphins have had no injuries through preseason.

Gmen need a long sustained drive to open the second half.

With all of the injuries I'm not surprised with the effort on D but the offense was bad overall. Eli needs to play better. Might be a long season.

I was very disappointed in the playcalling too. I didn't understand why Jacobs wasn't in on that 4th and 1 when were close and that 3rd and 1 when we missed the FG.. Jacobs should be in on every short yardage situation.. I know Bradshaw runs hard but if you have a 264 pound monster like Jacobs you're suppose to use him in those situations at all times no matter what. The playcalling definitely has to get better next week. Eli needs to play better too.. A.Ross needs to pick it up on defense. Yeah this just might be a long season. I have very low expectations this year..

Jacobs is NOT the guy you want in short yardage situations. Size=/=short yardage success. If Jacobs has made his name on beating up a team's secondary after great blocking. Bradshaw has made his name on salvaging plays with terrible blocking and turning them into a positive gain.

Also, what game were you watching? Ross was fine--watch the game again. EVERY big reception was on Webster's side of the field. I honestly have no idea what the hell he's doing out there. I used to think he was such a good coverage back, but he's NEVER within 5 yards of the receiver.

Look, it's not good to lose to the Redskins week one. But you know who else lost to the Redskins last year? The Bears, Eagles, and PACKERS. It happens to the best of them. The Giants gave up 80 points combined to the Cowboys and Packers in the first two weeks of '07. It's how we bounce back from a rough start that dictates how we finish this year. If Osi and Tuck come back next week, we go from playing with a DE and a half to three stud DEs. Amukamura will provide CB depth after month one (*** **** it, Webster, just survive a few more weeks) and Nicks is really showing how useful he is all over the field. Eli has no time with this terrible offensive line, but Nicks made the plays when he got the chance.

I rather have Jacobs in on short yardage plays doing what he's been doing for his whole career.. He's moving better and looks healthy this year. They need to use him to pound on defenses.. I'm not saying he needs to be the feature back but he needs his carries especially in short yardage situations..

I was watching the same game you were watching and saw Ross Get torched by Gaffney on that big play right before the half and then he turns around and gets scored on right after that.. Big momemtum shift right at halftime.. He played better in the 2nd half.. Webster at least is in position to make a play when he gets caught on and he shows up almost every week so its never a big deal to me if he gets a few passes caught on him. Ross gets faked easy and never makes a play on the ball. When is the last time he's gotten and INT? Teams will be looking for Ross all year. I can guarantee you that.. I can't wait for Prince to get back but he has to go through his learning curve so I still expect us to get torched.. I really hope everything turns around but I really have low expectations this year. Nothing looked right out there today.. Even with all the injuries we should have beaten Washington..

I'm not saying Ross played great, or even well. All I'm saying is that for all of the second half of last year and into this year, I have seen so much soft play from Corey Webster, and it really makes me wonder how talented our secondary is even when TT is healthy.
