Odd...most of us "detractors" can't believe that some people are willing to pay $60-70 for a 1/2 (I'm being generous) a game.
But variety is the spice of life I suppose.

Can you explain one thing to me as I never been this way in my life why does any person as long as ther not hurting others care what anyone else likes, thinks or does ?
It seems like a terrible waste and a horrible way to go through life as I always appreciated what I had and not what I didnt .

Prior to judging I would recommend you read the message to which I was responding. Once you do you will see that I was merely responding in kind to that message.

One thing that I CAN commend this game for is the sim engine.

Players seem to be accumulating much more realistic stats in this game. I remember in past games there would be maybe 1-2 players per season that could muster point per game seasons or something ridiculous. It was bad all around, especially goal to assist ratios. But that all seems to be cleaned up now.

I remember in past games there would be maybe 1-2 players per season that could muster point per game seasons or something ridiculous. It was bad all around, especially goal to assist ratios. But that all seems to be cleaned up now.

To add on to this I notice most players play like themselves as the last few games I really tried to keep an eye on it as Malkin was a beast and hard to move and I draw alot of penalties with Alex O , Shaw on the hawks had a fight and two grinder goals and Cary price played amazing in a 3-0 SO

It would be easier to ask which are in it , Im only using play now but I think theres Gm Mode and Hut but dont quote me .

But free content is coming in September , Playoff Mode and 3 Stars of the game and then I can start playing for The Cup and possibly sip from the chalice

What I like to do in sports games is called Franchise mode in MLB the Show and connected career in Madden. You perform all the functions of a GM but you also play the games.

Can you do this in NHL 15, be the GM and still play the games and control the players?

Yes you can - it's Be a GM mode, but the mode has been gutted to the point where you can't do a fantasy draft to begin, and the rookie draft is done by CPU. There is supposed to be an update in October that will add the rookie draft, so unless you plan on playing 82 games prior to that, you should be fine (it has been confirmed by the Lead Producer in another thread that you will not have to restart your franchise to get the draft in). In addition, you cannot play your minor league team's games, and your players in the minors do not accumulate stats. People are also reporting issues with stat tracking, but I haven't personally seen that issue yet (goalie shootout wins are the issue I believe) It really is a bare bones mode this year, but for some of us it still works.

It is true that it is easier to say what is in the game mode-wise as the list of what is in is rather paltry compared to the very lengthy list of what is out. Way to look at the glass half full.

You can always go to the RedBox website and see if there is a RedBox near you that's renting the game, and give it a shot for 2 dollars and some change per day. Might be better than buying a game you might be miserable with.

To get this out of the way, no I'm not overlooking:

• ignoring sounds of the game & the possibility of custom music becoming available
• the temporary removal of precious online game modes that at least 50% of community plays

What I am referring to are clearly marked strong improvements over the previous gen NHL that I'm seeing and feel that I could enjoy very much in the full version of this game. Those factors being:

• the most authentic skating this franchise has ever seen to date by far
• the only game with truly authentic puck physics created exciting gameplay at times
• the undoubtedly top notch level of graphics, and commentary challenges the best of sport games in next gen
• the best to date physical contact to date arguably even better than ufc
• other small but notable key improvements, like jersey physics namely. just shows them going to that extra extra mile.

These improvements far outnumber the things most people are dissapointed about right now and are so quick to chastise and crucify this game. I don't understand people leaving reviews currently, if you bought the game you knew and very well should have known going in, features were missing. What actually is inside the game is my question and Based on the demo I am playing I see unprecedented potential unlocked by this franchise taking the steps to bring their hockey gameplay up to that next level.

One would think that eventually when they tie in all of the DLC or patches for this year and when they start to gear for the title next year this will become a mind blowing franchise, challenging the best in this sports gaming industry.


So my question is shouldn't we be commending? EAS for NHL 15 ignoring these extra game modes just to specifically stress maxing the actual root of their game, the actual hockey gameplay? The more of the demo I continue to play, and I've had it since day 1 I become increasingly satisfied that if I were to take the full game tweak the sliders for more realistic hitting this would be the nearest I've gotten to perfect gameplay in a sports game.

I completely agree with you. I feel this game is a great first step on the new platforms. next year we'll get allot of that stuff back but the gameplay in this edition is addicting and fun. I find myself playing UT and online vs most of the time and its more than enough to feed my addiction. I'm excited for the future of this franchise.

It all comes down to what modes you play. If you are as happy as a piggie in blanket playing online versus or play now, that this game is a godsend. If you enjoy anything else (be-a-pro, be-a-GM, etc...), then this game is a total letdown.

Yes its a incredible base for years to come if EA chooses to use it thats another question ?

I would also like to see all modes play like play now does in NHL 15 and I alls I really play is Playoff mode so I guess I lucked out even if Playoff mode is just a port from NHL 14 and doesnt have the great Physics like NHL 15 play now has .

So I do commend them for that ...
