some simple and small ideas BE A GM

NHL 15 was the only game in the series of EA NHL games that I had ZERO fun with in BE A GM. I would've been happy if they would've just took the exact same BE A GM mode from NHL 14 and inserted in to NHL 15. Everything from scouting to trades to actual gameplay seemed to be less fun than the previous year. Here's some small and simple ideas I hope to see in NHL 16, some have already been included in previous games of the EA NHL series.

    1) Though this may seem dumb and extremely minor, when a player scored in games and the screen popped up saying who scored the goal, it would tell how many goals that player had on the season. I for one like stats and I enjoyed knowing how many goals player had on the year when they scored during gameplay.

    2) Bring back the trade deadline. Simple enough. Everyone can imagine what can be done with the trade deadline.

    3) In the EA FIFA soccer games the announcers would talk of previous games and how players have been currently performing. Simply enough all EA would have to do is have the announcers do this exact same thing in the NHL games. It would also be nice to have announcers speak of lineup changes, injuries, recent trades, etc. In FIFA if you add a player to the transfer list (basically the same thing as the trade block) the announcers would mention it. All this would add to the storyline of your season.

    4) Add a playoff scenario menu. I for one always find myself trying to figure out which teams are going to make the playoffs come season end. It would be cool to have it figured out for us and also incorporate that in to the announcers speaking of it during gameplay.

As you can tell many of these small ideas are about storylines. All the things we do off the ice in BE A GM would be cool to have spoken about during gameplay. It just adds to the realism of actual NHL play. These ideas are small and I have about 5 million more ideas that EA could do but I wanted this to be simple and not to over the edge.

Scouting can be better, the draft could be more dynamic. The trading in NHL is decent but if a trade happens and it involves relevant players who play most games, then 10 out of 10 times announcers take notice and speak of the trade. Line chemistry would be fun, but it should also be developed over time. You shouldn't just throw players together and have some meter tell you that they will play well together. You should have to play a few games to get a feel for what players play well together and develop your lines from there.

I could go on and on about some simple ideas but ALL I ask for is to at least have the "old" BE A GM back and NOT the one that was put in to NHL 15. NHL 15 was the only NHL game in years I hardly touched because 90% of the reason I buy NHL is because of the BE A GM mode.

I forgot to add one more very simple thing they could do. During gameplay show the scores of other games around the league. In FIFA 15 they do this and when a goal is scored they actually have a reporter come on and announce what team scored and the player that scored it.

That's why last gen's NHL 15 has been so fun to play.. there are so many things they left off from last gen's BeaGM on current gen.

In order for me to have any sort of fun with BaGM, edit player needs to get put back in so we have accurate player ratings.

And I wish the devs would play Eastside Hockey Manager Early Access for some BaGM ideas.

WOW...thanks for this...first time to hear this. As I checked it, its not based on NHL real teams and players. Do you play the actual game or just manage the team as GM, responsible for trading/drafting/scouting etc?

Two things that I would like to see implemented in Be A GM in future games.
            1. More in-depth contract negotiations.
I want to be able to offer a player a contract with a no-trade clause and negotiate player bonuses. I would also like to see that players won't sign for other reasons(like not enough ice time, didn't get along with players on a team, etc...).

            2. Revamped NHL entry draft.
Once again I'm going to reference 2k's NBA when it comes to the draft, they have a full presentation with David Stern announcing the players who have been picked. And they have detailed analysis on what type of player teams are getting at a certain number.

I would love to see NHL have this! But I guess I can only dream......

              boxscores for all games played.
and they should have an option for all fictional players with there own ratings.

You are absolutely right! I bought the game for less than $20. I printed the Manual at less than $8 at Staples (62 pages), since I am very new in EHM. This is what I am looking for and EA's BaGM is not even 10% of it. SMH!

I know that it would be very complicated for EHM company to release their version in X1 or PS4. But if they will just focus on GM and Online play (like forming a customizable league), they will get tons of followers, die-hard NHL fans.

Re: some simple and small ideas BE A GM

Completely agree. This year's Be A GM seemed dumbed down.

Actions like trades and scouting feel flat and ineffective. The majority of first round picks don't amount into anything--including those chosen in the top 10.

Although this isn't specifically a Be a GM problem, I do wish each team took on a persona or personality, such as the Lightning playing with a run-and-gun style while another team plays more trap.

This also accounts for individual players, where Crosby handles no different than Tom Sestito.

Draft scouting needs to be improved. Drafting is currently useless, even for top picks, and you'd be lucky to get anything more than a Top 9 player or Top 7 defenceman.

The ability to re-sign UFA/RFAs during the season would also be nice, rather than having to work within a 7 day timespan at the end of the year.

Overall, the menu UI needs an overhaul. Nothing flows or often takes too long to pull up, especially during Free Agency. 30 seconds to load a list of players. It's like my PS4 is battling a virus when I play this game.

I use to play EHM 2007 with updated rosters religiously. The game had it's own issues, but was a ton of fun compared to EA Be a GM.

What ever happened to that game/development team? They should seriously do a collab with EA or churn out a new game. It might be the only game I will ever pre-order in my life lol.

I would prefer them tied up with another company besides EA, that way we have 2 companies that will compete for the betterment of the game.

BTW, have you played EHM:EA? I am just starting to know the in's/out's of the game. Very deep and great to see this on BaGM of any sports.

Would be nice to be able to draft players from the Be a Pro mode. Let's say your friend is playing be a pro and start in the CHL. You could be able to see his ratings on your scouting screen and maybe draft him into your team in be a GM. Of course he is not gonna play for real, but at least you'll have his charaters and ratings. Can you imagine the amount of prospects created by users instead of faked players generated by the computer. This way the be a pro users would be able to see how they do and how many times they've been drafted by the be a GM users around thé world.

Would be a cool way to mix the 2 modes.
