Re: Your Thoughts on the EASHL Beta

I can't really comment about if this Beta is better than NHL15 on PS4/XB1.... I skipped it because of NO EASHL...

I would hope it's better though

I would never buy this hockey game if no EASHL as that's the only thing I play in the game and everyone I have played with online is the same way.

I am going to point out some reasons why the computer AI in the EASHL is not atrocious as some are making it out to be..

first of all the computer goalie AI is very good and some would probably say too good if anything..

second.. every time I'm playing a 6 v 6 game which is very enjoyable by the way and what I miss most about online sports gaming. Nothing gets better than that...

any ways, I have noticed several times when I'm in one of these games 6 v 6 and my team starts getting smoked early in the game 3 - 0 in the 1st people start quitting on my team... my team with 3 AI players on it starts to come back in the game because the AI does better than the human players because they are playing their positions better. This has happened more often than not so I really don't see what others are talking when they say the computer AI is atrocious. If that was the case than why is it that this happens?

I'm on xb1 at the moment but I am going to transfer to PS4 before the actual game comes out because most everyone I know is on that for this.

my psn on there will be stevostl if it lets me keep my PS3 PSN

Re: Your Thoughts on the EASHL Beta

I thought it was good. Overall game seems smooth and much better then NHL15 and NHl14.

My only concern is the lack of class related customization. I like the "everyone is equal" play but I would like to have some choice in how my power forward or playmaker will play. I would like the option to move around points or attributes. Nothing serious but being about to move a max of 3 points from one key attribute to another class related key attribute would be nice.
Ex. Being a power forward, I would like to take a couple points from the slap shot power and put them into anything from checking, strength, hand eye or puck control.

I don't want huge customization on the skill, but just alittle differs toon between random joes who are the same class as me.

          What are your guys thoughts?

and besides I heard complaints that the computer AI goalie is too good... which is it?

this is meant for 6 v 6 hockey... humans.. I actually prefer the computer AI to be bad in this mode. anything that helps out people who play 2 or 3 mans clubs is MAJOR negative in this mode and kills the game.

I don't notice the computer AI being that horrible when I have played with it.. and if it was any better than it already is I would be complaining.
I think aside from difficulty level, it's safe to assume it's going to be like past releases, and it will be the same, if not extremely similar to the AI you can expect from the final release. As far as I know, the AI is shared between all game modes, so while it's not an even comparison across the board, the AI will still give you some pretty solid glimpses of what to expect in the final product.

As someone who doesn't play EASHL, that actually sounds like a great idea. That takes away the grinding aspect i think EA was worried about, but still lends towards the customization aspect that fans seem to want.

Say you want the size and physicality of a power forward, but with the focus on hand-eye, and balance, to allow you to be a bigger threat down in front of the goalie. Increasing your odds of a deflection, and balance helping you not get muscled away from the screen you're setting up.

Conversely, a team more focused on a score on the rush style player, could maybe focus a bit from something like slapshot, or hitting, and put it towards speed and hand-eye to try and get your big center to the slot quicker, with a better chance of getting a rebound on a shot from the boards by the snipers, or a pass into the slot through bodies by your playmaker.

Re: Your Thoughts on the EASHL Beta

^^ The issue though is that with constant tweaking someone is bound to find an overpowered build that within 3 months of the game coming out everyone will be using. I think that's way they took attribute adjustments out of the players hands.

I also have a theory that (I haven't played the beta so assuming you can't see player attribute builds whatsoever in EASHL) the attributes are probably completely whack for these builds. I remember the youtube video that came out that showed there is barely a difference between Crosby and some random 72 ovr enforcer in the game. If EA actually wants these builds to play differently I'm willing to bet that many of the attributes are either waaaay jacked up or waaaay toned down.

I realize I might be confusing... On old gen you started off every attribute at 65. Well, if the game is still similar to last years next gen game (which of course it is), and there isn't much player differential on NHL rosters, then in order to get actual player differential in EASHL they are having to severely limit some attributes. Like a playmakers passing might be 90-95, but since they want the playmaker to pass much better than other builds, a grinders passing is down in the 30s or 40s.

That's something that I feel like people would have a fit over if they actually knew that's what the EASHL builds looked like and it would confirm everyones belief that there is no real player differential on the NHL rosters that come with the game (since currently these players are only differentiated by a few ovr and in turn have most attributes above 70)

Again, this is under the assumption that you can't see actual attributes in EASHL, so if I am wrong about that then these posts means nothing.

It is something they are working on although probably not until next year. Right now they want to concentrate on player builds that have already

Re: Your Thoughts on the EASHL Beta

Honestly, I really really enjoy the beta. I've played about 5 games of 4 on 4 and had a ton of fun. The team that played better team hockey won.

With the notion that EASHL is usually the "arcade" mode for the game in terms of sliders and settings, I'm really excited to see what the game will be like offline on hardcore mode.

I've already seen more tripping and slashing penalties which I really like. I'm extremely happy with the looseness of the puck and sloppiness of play in general. Can't wait for this game in a few weeks!

I had some fun last night with friends. I'm just trying to determine if the 'lag' I was feeling when skating is because of my poor internet, or the 'new' skating system?

It feels like it's a millisecond behind what I am pressing. I also find it difficult to get my player settled in to where he needs to be. For example, trying to get open in the slot, parking yourself in front of the net, or trying to hold the blue line. It's quite jittery. This whole precision skating might need some tweaking. Or maybe it's just my 3mbps internet.

Already got into the top division for EASHL. If I didn't play in leagues, I think I'd be done with EASHL after the first 2 months or so. I know its just the beta, but I cant envision there being more clubs created when the actual game comes out compared to what is out now. Hopefully I'm wrong though

This is the same problem I'm having. When you try to stop and hold position, your skater seems like it's trying to float away.

What? You can't envision more clubs being created when the other 80% of people who get the game have access to it?

Couldn't agree more. I like the idea of the classes, but there still needs to be some room for player individuality that's not tied to equipment.
