I played 4 games yesterday. I went 2-2 and didn't feel cheated once (one goal was complete bull, you knew they were gonna score, they played keep away by that move where they can completely turn their body and stick away from you so you can't do anything, then when they get the step on you they bull charge at the goalie).

With hitting assistance up to 5 once I lock on them they dump, the puck is loose. Everything was really really fun. Jostling along the boards was fair. Had a great hockey moment. The AI had a 2 on 1 and my 1 had just broken his stick. I took away the passing lane as best I could, they ripped the shot instead of the pass, my goalie made a great blocker save. I then took a forwards stick, to end up clearning it out of the zone.

I'm back to having fun with it. Still not as good as the original tuner set but it is getting better. Really wish they'd fix the AI's hell bent way to side step in the neutral zone, bring it back out, and continue that until they get a step on you. Really is bad looking and annoying to defend because you KNOW they WILL GET BY at some point.

My testing last night was with aggression slider. Played 2 games with it at 0 and 2 games with it maxed. Both were great. Haven't decided which I like better but there was def a difference in game play

We use 'out of box' Patch (some call it Tuner) and the gameplay is better then any Patch update since then. It also makes a diff which Tuner (1.00 or 1.01) you use with most recent Patch.

So, for the tuner-confused out there, how many tuners have been released and which one is the consensus #1?

By my count, there have been 4 tuners?
- Original/Out of the Box
- Sept 28 - (Best of the bunch?)
- Sept 30
- Oct 19

Is that right?

I heard the second Tuner (what we call Patch)(we call the 1.00 and 1.01 the Tuner) was the better of them. We use 'out of box' which is better then the ones after the second.


Be nice to select like 1.00 or 1.01

Pretty pleased with my latest sliders but till can't start a season due to woeful rosters. I looked back to last year and EA released a roster update on November 13 and December 10. As of the December one a ton of AHL players and random guys went or were missing. Looks like I'm going to create my own possibly using the default original. I will just create all the missing guys myself. Lol at least my version Eichel will have a play by play name.

So I couldn't find a questions thread (stopped looking after page 3) and didn't want to start a new one so I'll ask here.

Can you play an Olympic style tournament with international teams with this game?

I see the foreign leagues in the play now menu but I can't find a way to set this up there or in the playoff menu.

Roster updates are few and far between and when they do one they are lazily done and full of errors. There are guys here that do fantastic rosters but EA won't allow roster sharing so were stuck with the garbage they release. Perfect example; first and only roster update so far Eichel has no picture, looks nothing like him and has no play by play name despite his name being available in their play by play list.

You can find decent sliders but as far as balance goes it's very difficult because fixing one thing generally detracts from another area of the game. At the end of the day though it's almost moot since EA releases gameplay tuners that overwrite the old ones and they almost always require you going back to the drawing board with your sliders. Again EA decided we cannot choose from gameplay sliders like in the past.

Long story short NHL 16 can be very enjoyable but at the same time very frustrating. Many of the offline issues that plagued this game for years still exist. You can have some great games but more often than not something will happen that just ruins it for you and you realize how great this game could be with very little effort on their part. The overall consensus is that EA puts forth 95% of it's effort to the online community and cash cow HUT.

I'm not one to complain usually. And really, this isn't a complaint. But it was wild. Just played a 6 on 6 game on EASHL. After 1 period we were up 6-0. Only one winger and one dman quit from the other team, which was great. Glad they stuck around to play.

That being said, all of a sudden, we were trying to pass and the puck was going in every direction except towards our target. When it did go towards our target, they couldn't receive it. Our passing percentage after the 1st was like 76 percent. After the second it was like 61.

We couldn't pick up loose pucks. Every, EVERY, poke or blocked shot went right their guys. Bottom line, we lost, 8-6. We hit 6 posts in the 2nd and 3rd combined. It wasn't even frustrating. It was quite funny, try to pass up the boards, only to have the pass go to the middle, right on the stick of the other team.

End of game passing percentage was like 58 percent for us. It was bad. We were still playing positional hockey. Nothing we could do. Couldn't pick up loose pucks. Couldn't intercept passes. Couldn't make a pass. Couldn't get a shot through. It was wild.

I think I'm done with this game. I need a break.

I have to play it sparingly (shouldn't be playing much anyway, I've got way too much MCSA studying to do...). Even sitting out from NHL15 all the way to a few weeks ago, the game still gets frustrating. Everything is just too similar to versions of old.

The skating, hitting, and shooting all feel the same. I'm still struggling along with the sliders. I do have moments where it's pure fun, and I get lost for a bit...but they're usually ruined when what was a really fun and tight game of hockey turns into a 7-4 scoring fest, despite shot power and accuracy being as low as possible (without ruining the enjoyment. Having your top scorer miss the net every time just to compensate for braindead goalies just gets old) and having the goalie sliders maxed out, even though that leads to absurd sliding and diving goals that ruin good plays. It's all in the name of cancelling out the fact that the goalies completely miss the saves they should make, and routinely make the ones that should be high percentage scoring chances. The AI just needs a massive overhaul.

Some games I have 1-2 penalties, other games I have 3-6. I think the later tuners had more, but I love the out of the box tuner too much right now to even think about updating. It really sucks once you update you can't simply choose the one you want to use. Not sure why they took that out!!!

We tried once again to have a playoff series at my place. Big mistake. After a total of 5 games, we switched to another game. Every game was the same ... One player opens scoring, the other player answers back, until about halfway through the 3rd, then they attempt to mix it up so we won't see a pattern.

The playoff series was so stupid, after every goal the other team was literally given every advantage to score, we felt like our hands were being held, not an ideal situation.

We ended up playing pro evo 16 and doing home run Derby's in mlb 15
