Just came back to NHL after a year off....wow! Help!

I passed on NHL 15 and bought 16 yesterday. It's a fun game but DAMN the puck control is a lot harder. It doesn't take much to intercept passes (in my case, getting my passes intercepted) or to poke check a puck. Any tips for passing (especially out of the zone) and for holding onto the puck? Also what are some good strategies to use?

Use R1/RB for a higher flip pass, and/or pass it via the boards...

Thank you EA - This game is officially better than sex

I'm in the same boat. I think 13 or 14 was my last NHL game. One thing that helps a lot is simply protecting the puck with the X (PS4) button. I really gotta work on my dekes and some simple stuff like dragging my stick back for a wrist shot instead of a slap shot (it seems like it randomly decides what I'm winding up for and slapshots are very difficult to get off online).
